from clipper:
Set and then plant quickly while bringing your knee up as the bag is rising. Try to chase the bag. Make your knee as high as the bag when it is at its peak. As this happens jump towards the bag to dex and pull your leg under and delay on the clipper. Timing is crucial. You really want to have a good clipper set dlo for this move, as well as alternating clippers without a shuffle plant. Like a drifter without the dex. That will help you achieve the timing and speed necessary.
From toe:
Very similar, except there is more of a hip pivot involved. Set straight up and pivot your hips to the side as you raise your knee up. This will open up the window for the bag to be in. Once the bag is at its peak and your knee is over it, pivot your hips back and pull your leg around and to clipper posistion delaying the bag. Toe dlo is helpful for this move.

With drifters - an important tip I got was to keep the dexing leg straight - don't try to dex the bag by moving the leg - instead move your whole body so that the bag passes through the dexing window - you should twist a bit as well as jumping sideway so that lands on your clipper. If you get the technique right you shouldn't need much speed at all.

When someone says 'jump' dont think of it as a physical jump either... you dont really need to leave the ground very much. Its more of a hop, about an inch or two off the ground.
Set straight up (you win, Jeremy
), and make sure the bag is close to your body, like an inch or two away from your body if possible, maybe a little further, around about waist height or slightly higher. You want the bag to be close so you are not having to stretch out your dexing leg in order to dex it. The dexing leg should probably take like a ninety degree angle between leg and thigh, and not move much from that alignment if possible.
Ultimately you want to minimise the movement of the dexing leg, as moving it wastes time during the move and will cause the catch to be rushed and the move to be harder.
Not saying i can achieve all these things all the time but they are good points to aim for i think

Drifter and sideways jumps
Yo!
You can jump sideways and land a move. It might actually be easier to hit a drifter that way but your hurting your game in the long run. All the tips on drifter in this topic are good except the jumping-sideways advice. If you have enough rotation (180 degrees) you don't need to move sideways.

do the dex like a torque, it will turn your body enough so the bag is on your opposide ready for the clipper, don't forget your doing a drifter not a torque, or crunch goes the ankle.

Max, try taking some time to practice the motion of Drifter without the bag, and visualise where you want it to go.
The set should be around waist height or a little higher; maybe you could also practice setting a dexing drifters and just letting them drop, so that you work on clearing the dex before trying to swing in and delay it. Think about your leg position... maybe your support leg is too far forward, or maybe you are jumping too much and putting your support leg too far out, so the bag sort of just goes behind by mistake.
Its hard to explain in text!

was sKooling my high plains a little today and thought I'd give some tips.
this is what I think you should get good at to hit the move first:
drifter (duh)
barrage (duh)
blazing sets
toe drifter
stepping
I'm not actually very good at barrages - but the reason for that is mainly a style thing - I can hit a solid up time or peak time barrage for moves like this or flurry or whatever but I never like the timing of the move for a normal barrage - I always feel the dexes are too early or too late - it's not smooth. This comment is just so you know - it depends what kind of barrage you do. Early is best.
Basically I think of this like a half stepping half blazing ss drifter.
In steps like this:
1. Set the bag straight and tight.
2. Lift dexing leg just like a stepping set but keep it inside the bag.
3. Perform an uptime whirling dex.
4. Continue leg into a normal drifter.
Try and stay straight and mainly twist your body so the bag passes infront to the clipper. Dexes should be at about bottom of calf falling to ankle I guess. Speed is not vital but I'm sure it helps. Look out for support knee getting in the way.
I was drilling today in board shorts so the dexes don't need to be too high I guess.
edit: but that said - you do want to try and lift your knee fairly high and set the bag closer to waist height than knee height.

after the dex of the drifter, twist your hips alot so u can seal that clipper also i do not know what you might be doing wrong but make shure the set is infront of you, hopefully this will work, im not the best on helpingsNale wrote:The bag always passes behind my support leg. Any suggestions?

Well I just hit my first drifter today, and here are the things that I noticed:
Before I hit the drifter, I was practicing cross-body clipper stalls. I made sure my clippers were decently strong on both feet. I also made sure I had mirages from clipper stalls down. There were 2 MAIN things that allowed me to do the drifter. From a right side clipper, I concentrated on really getting my right foot down fast so I could shoot off of it to get the mirage. Then the next thing I concentrated one was just pulled the leg around really quick. Of course the second part is especially obvious, but I say it anyways because it's something you really need to try at to get good speed.
So yeah that's about it, good luck, drifters are sweet.

This is a similar technique to the last post, but I had a drill that helped a lot before I actually landed it. I would go from right foot inside stall, to left foot clipper. It helped me get that motion down. Then just changed the inside to a clipper/stepping.
Another thing that helped was setting the bag like medium height. A little below the waist. Once it set, I planted and swung that dexing leg around with a hip swivel. I really focused on the 'swinging' motion, and that seemed to help.

Drifter
The key to the drifter for me is my clipper set. You have to set it straght up but thats not the key. The key is your posture. Your back has to in a straight posture and when your doing the clipper you should not be slouched at all. Crank your ankle on the clipper and do a hop just like how everyone else said to do.
I hope this helps you as much as it helped me becasue i use yo never be able to even get close to doing a drifter until i figured out the key.

Re: Drifters
That was by far among the better instructional vids online. It looks as though Mr. Anassi has more too. Where can I get them? I did a search for them, but to no avail.Blue_turnip wrote:I need help with drifters. I mean i can hit it sometimes but im just not quick enough. Any suggestions would be much appreciated
