they sent an email back that said they cant take new ideas cause if they end up having coverage at worlds or sumthin theyre scared that I or anyone else will sue them cause ESPN didnt think up the idea themselves.

I guess I should let you guys know that I’m actually 21, not a kid by any means. Lately since I have finished school I have stopped caring so much about my spelling and in this post it really showed. Honestly I’m embarrassed, but if there is something that life has taught me it is that you should be able to laugh at yourself when you’re stupid. I am just this bad at spelling, thank the footbag gods someone invented spell check. I’ll just type my posts in MS Word and copy and paste that shit.

C-fan got my humor in that second post I made, so I’m happy. And Ben, thanks for believing in me buddy!

p.s. Apparently footbag is spelt wrong according to this word program. Ha, Ha!!

Get the google toolbar. It has a very handy spellcheck for forms embedded in web pages (like the one you type message board posts in).

spelling and gramer in my opinion should not fully matter on modified. of course if i was to go for an interview with literature in hand i would spell chek everything at least three times.

So I have this interview coming up with McDonalds HQ, some guy named Pat regarding my footbag sponsorship!!

Preparation is everything and it is very important. So I'm trying to figure out a format or way of presenting it, and here is what i have so far. Tell me your thoughts and anything i should change or add.
!Just A Outline!
FOOTBAG PROPOSAL BELOW

1. Written format
First i need the proposal itself. I'll write about the history of footbag on a separate sheet.
i could read or memorize the presentation during my meeting with company, but i'll probably memorize it.

2. Video clip
I then need to create a video segment 5-7 minutes long.
In it I will identify the sport in flash print along with my name. My name should be secondary.
The sport is most important.
For every great move I do with the footbag; I will identify the move on the video in flash print.
I am creating a video clip in 1 or 2 words to help identify that particular segment.

3. I will create a log to help start the cold calls process.
The date..... who I spoke to......... and what transpired.
I have a log sheet already in WP format.
I'm createing an outline in print, as to be professional and concise of what it is that I want to accomplish.

But hows mcdonalds going to sponser you? free big macs, and you get to join a circle with Ronald? JK but if you get the sponsership HOW would they expose the sport? Cause it'd be weird to see a demo with the mcd's logo all over the place promoting footbag.

You want to do good things for the sport and have goals to accomplish after getting sponsored, right? What do you want sponsorship for? Are you asking for money for equipment or traveling costs to/from a competition? What does the company get in return? How will your sponsorship help the sport in general? I want Zach's answer, if he feels like answering.

You don't have to answer me. Maybe it's just stuff to think about. Those are some of the questions that came to mind when I read your posts in here, maybe the company would ask some of the same questions.

5 minutes can seem like a long time to sit and watch a footbag video if the person has not been exposed to much of it before. It's easy to forget that as impressive as footbag is, many people have trouble seeing or understanding what's going on in the beginning.

You sound very excited about this project which is very important for putting on a good presentation. Have fun and good luck.

There are a lot of good questions! I’m not entirely sure at this point how Mc Donald’s would sponsor me. Free big Macs sounds alright, but not really what I was looking for.

Yes I’m definitely going to post the video here first, as well as the speech. I was also thinking about making a storyboard for my presentation, of a possible commercial idea, and at one point I’ll have my character doing simple tricks with Ronald’s big clown shoes on. Please post your ideas for anything ells you might think would be good for a commercial.

Part of the deal would have to be good exposure for/of the sport. The company in return would get me (Zachary Forth) representing them (Mc Donald’s) eating there food and still living a healthy lifestyle. It would especially be saying, “Hey we can’t be that bad if this guy eats our food and can do all this.” My sponsorship would help the sport in general by referring to the sport as footbag as well as flashing some links to some excellent sites.

You are right, 5 minute really can seem like a long time, so I’ll have to see how it looks first.

Zach, it sounds like you've got some good ideas, and props if this all works out. Your commercial idea is interesting, but as far as I know McDonalds runs their ads nationally, and not provincially, or locally. So what I'm getting at is that they may not be interested/able to scrap a million dollar advertising campaign to pick up a footbag promotion. Also, you have to be worth something to the company as well, right? I mean, apart from having a good image to show people, you have to be able to benefit the company either monetarily, or with a lot of publicity. And publicity in the form of a footbag promotion means travelling around a lot and competing. And winning. It sounds like a cool idea and everything, but I feel like it may be a little more difficult than standing up, doing a song and dance, and getting money in your pocket.

5-7 minutes of video is a lot. I'd say showing a routine from Worlds via .org would as is might be better without alterations.

My only worry is that, well... McDonalds is the devil. Just make sure that you're not selling your concience to them by promoting that which we all know is a lie. If everything went as planned, would you really feel comfortable telling the public "I eat fast food every day! It's good for you!!" Either the public will respond "Wow! If that guy can get away with that much junk in his system, then I can too" or they will go "I know that McD's is bad for you, so that must not be a real sport since this guy can still do it after eating all that fast food." Both of these are negatives.

I know that you're not exactly there yet, and that things will still undergo much in the way of change, but make sure you don't sell your pride.

(I don't know anything else about sponcourship or advertising, so I'll just leave it at that)
