Sup Stylers,

Last Saturday I auditioned for the $50,000 Gong (talent) Contest run by the Edge 102.1 (local radio station) in Toronto, Ontario.

The auditions ran throughout the month of September. Each audition was filmed and the top 50 (determined by the Edge staff) videos made it onto the Edge website. This week I received a phone call saying I made the top 50!! My audition is up on the site:

How you can help:

1. Go to the website, join the Inside Edge (it's free)
2. Sign in, go to Contests > The Edge 50,000 Gong > Main > vote for favourite talent acts
3. Vote for me! (Jorden Moir, center of page). You can vote once per day! Please vote as many times as you can, from now til Oct. 22nd.
**Note: You can only vote for ONE video per day!!!

The 10 videos with the most votes move on to the finals, which will happen at the edge studio on friday, October 27th. Winner of the finals receives a cheque for 50 grand.

What I would do w/ the money:

- purchase a High-Definition video camera to use for my next dvd
- hit up the major NA & European tournaments in 2007
- pay for the next 3 years of University
- get professional equipment for developing a polished juggling/footbag stage performance

Will you help me? Any suggestions/advice greatly appreciated!!

Usually, I would definitely agree.
But -- when you have roughly one minute to convince someone to put you in the top 50, you spend afford to spend time on explaining the footbag/Hacky Sack dispute. After all, it is a gong contest and if they don't find you entertaining they GONG you (disqualify you from the contest)!

If I said footbag at the begininning and explained it I'd lose some people. I needed to be impactful immediately. Plus, the edge was on air right beside me and I'm sure they'd crack a couple jokes about what footbag "could imply".

It needed to be able to be described on radio. Hence Hacky Sack.

I did tell the Edge staff about footbag (some of them already knew!). Certainly if I made it to finals, people would be told what's up.

this is a chance to get some recognition for footbag and some money that will at least in part indirectly support to the cause of footbag to at least a small degree. or at least get jorden some money. so we cant screw this up. EVERYONE VOTE!
