Was fun playing at the PDA today with 4 other people. Kolo, François, Ianek and Mathieu we're there. We played some 3-Square and I totally got pwned. But it was fun and I want to play again.

Few new stuffs today but I played pretty bad, had few long tiltless runs but had a hard time linking better stuffs. Was hard playing too because it was very windy. I still managed to hit :

 dyno, footed flip
 nuclear ss mirage, footed both matador, one side many times
:arrow got few decent sailing sets, have to try it with ss mirage first
 tap>tap bs

Solo session today, a little cold but it was okay for shredding outside. Listened to some music and tried to figure out if I'm going to do an intermediate routine at worlds. I'm now thinking I will, nothing sure thought. I have a song I like for the routine but not sure if it's really adapted. Starts slow, few breaks and an intense 40 seconds to end. I would like to have a little break in that 40 seconds I'll see when I start to create my routine.

Yesterday I've forgot to add I've hit FS quantum legover. I've hit a new five today, Sumo (Nuclear Mirage )! Both one side but I footed both flip. Footed matador both sides again. Footed FS tripwalk bs.

Tiltless is getting really easy for me, I mean, every try I can hit 20 contacts if I concentrate and stick to butterfly, clipper, mirage, legover, pick-up, illusion. 30-40 isn't too hard either. Osis are getting better, I've hit osis > osis few times today but not good enough to link them for long.

Worked on atomics today, hitting atomsmasher > tap is so hard, I footed it few times but most of the time concentrating on the atomic of tap I just drop the mirage at the end of the atomsmasher. I still have hit 4 consecutive taps on one side and 3 on the other side. Seems like it paid because afterward I was able to put them midstring lot easier.

Damn, didn't posted in a while now!! Had quite a few sessions since. One solo 2 days ago and another one today with James, Kolo and Jean-Martin joined us for few rounds. I played pretty well for the condition because there was so many people passing by that I've been at least 3 times while shredding. I remember a father passing like a half meter besides myself during a string and yelling '' HEY TAKE CARE '' at me. I was like 'HEY STUPID, YOU SAW ME AND STILL DECIDED TO GO THROUGHT THIS WAY WITH YOUR BABY IN HIS CHAR, DUMBASS'', of course I just thought it and had a look at James who instantly understood. Still it was a lot of fun to shred on the beat of the tam-tam and around plenty of people.

On the footbag hand I have been working on my overall control both on toes and clippers. I'm footing dyno bs pretty often now, I still rarely close the deal and seal it but it's good. Footed a blender too. Today I've hit a new trick first try, was my first try ever at this trick, just after Kolo hit quantum ss clipper I was like : 'Hey I can do that'. Concentrate a little, try to understand the motion, first try : totally clean, controlled, felt as easy as a smear or magellan for me. I finally hit my flip eggbeater cleanly! I was very happy about it. I have to work my flip eggbeater and dlo. I should use more of these in my strings ( strong especially are already good but I barely use them ).

few highlights I remember from the 2 last sessions :

Parwalk and dimwalk bsos in a 20 contacts string
tap bsos both midstring
atomsmasher > atomic clipper ( I wanted to go for an atomsmasher but lost balance so bailed in clipper )
atomic is feeling a lot better midstring now
ripwalk > ss clipper > rpt
rev swirl few times on left side, swirl on right once or twice

Had few sessions since last posts, playing almost everyday 8O . They we're decent sessions but the reason I'm writing here right now is because yesterday night after work I saw few guys I know close to my home and stopped to see what was going on. The brother of my friend told at another guy, it's with him you had to play ( they we're finishing playing ). So they convinced me to show them a little.

Rolled my really baggy pants and played with shoes that have absolutely no toe box at all!! At least I had a good bag that one of the guys owned, a sandmaster. It was the first time I was trying one and they play very well. I showed them a little stuff, not all sealed because I had crappy shoes. I was able to hit pixie and fairy fairly easily but quantum and atomic we're impossible. So was stepping. I been able to hit a 15 contacts runs mostly tiltless with a dimwalk and a magellan I think.

Anyway, that guy, Vince, was really impressed and had seen quite a few videos from youtube. He was like, man that's awesome seeing all that LIVE, I can't believe it. So I took his phone and e-mail and we're going to have sessions. He seems REALLY interested and hit 3 clippers in a row after I showed him the right way. He was already hitting atw and pixie. He footed at least 5 mirages but didn't delayed them.

And an other guy I know asked me if I want to shred during the next weeks. He's pretty good for a beginner, he can do a few consecutives ss clipper, maybe 3 or 4 alternating, atw, mirage, illusion, legover and pick-up, I remember he told me he can osis too. He was yo-yo canadian champion 2 or 3 years ago, hope seeing me will push him to play more often. I hope we'll have a session tomorrow night after work.

Hi everybody, I haven't been posting too much here lately.

One of the reason is I don't have the interest to post much highlights anymore, I'm trying to push my overall game and maximize my control. There is still few highligths I could write down but I don't want everyone to know what I'm hitting when I'll arrive at worlds and MSJ2 so I wont be posting too many higlights.

Something really positive about shred is I convinced my friend to buy lavers and a better bag! He'll be there at MFJ2 with his brand new shoes! I think I already mentionned it here he was canadian champion last year(or the year before, ain't sure, anyway) of yo-yo. He don't play yos anymore but still one of the best for sure, he stopped last summer only. He told me he could probably end in the top 10 in some competitions if he gets to worlds. Anyway that guy is a begginer and have most of the basics down. Mostly one side but everyone started out like this. His clipper, osis and toe stalls we're really impressive because he had a real good control on them. It looked just as easy as if it was me doing them.

Hey dear blog, shredded for the first time with Pat 2 days ago (my friend who plans to buy lavers). I was playing pretty bad but he was still really impressed. But there's 2 things that really stands out from that day. I've hit a real clean paradon first try!! And I kept hitting them I've hit at least 5 or 6. I've hit my first barrage too!! After hitting the paradon I tell him, here's another one that I probably wont even come close. Footed first try, second try, here's a real clean barrage !!

Pat hit a few things, he hits his first butterfly. A few links like eclipse ss clipper. A few flip clipper. He is still really one sided but he want to work on that. I'm sure he can be a clipper beast because his crank is very good and his strong clipper looks real easy. I showed him the magic hop and he started to get the right timing. Good progress for a small 1h or so session.

Haha, thanks guys!

Of course that would be the shit if I could hit a dyno out of a paradon, but really, for now, both are too weak   :P

I have few other stuffs I'd like to practice before MSJ2 which is in 8 days!!! Can't wait! But after that, I'd give that a go and I promise I'll try my best to enter it before worlds ;) I'll probably hit you back with a challenge that you NEED to hit before worlds :P

Hey here, today session was very good. Hit few nice strings. It's sad thought cause I broke my hand on Friday and currrently have a cast and will have it at MSJ2 I really want to be able to play decent so I'm trying to get used to it before the event. I have to use more pixies and fairies thought because other sets (especially quantum and stepping) that requires more movements are hard with the cast.

Been a while without hiighlights so here's a few from today :

whirl > infinity > rpt
smear > plo > rpt first try
plo > fear bs
dimwalk > ss legover > pixie ss clipper > ss legover > rpt first try, midstring, without preparing it, I guess that's what we call on command?
fairy swirl bs, strong was REAL Sketchy, dont really count it
ss butterfly > osis > rpt 5 contacts

Yeah me too... I stupidly punched a box and broke it. one more week to go with it. Taking it off on the 15th.

The week-end at MSJ2 was real good, met plenty of nice people. I wont name them all, but here's a few thougths : Matt Cross is as cool to hang-out with as people are saying, he came to meet upon arrival and presented himself. Tom and Peng are awesome too, Tom talks so fast at first I was like wtf lol, Peng is really small 8O :P. Jordan is really good and it felt weird meeting him after waching so many of his videos. I really liked meeting FAT crew because playing with intermediate player is something I'm not used to. Josh is real good and few others are promising, Andrew just really need to slow down his game and work on his style, his girlfriend Cassy is a real promising shreditas. Will is amazing and real cool too.

Personnally I played shitty at the comp and during the week-end except on friday which was good. Flip atomsmasher > atomsmasher, first ripwalk > ripwalk, clean gyro mirage and few decent strings. In fact I don't care that I've played pretty bad, had no real expectation and still gained good experience. I thik i still showed enough so people have an idea where I'm at in my game. Next time I definitely can do better if I prepare myself.

Today was awesome too I played with that guy Vince. He's such a natural, he hits legover, pick-up, mirage, butterfly all bs for the first time 8O. He already has kicks and toe stalls pretty good. He seems really motivated, I think I now have a shred buddy in my home town :D . He now have a sandbag and I gave him a cuddlebag that I bougth to Peng, he preffered the cuddlebag which is good!

Some good stuff from today from me :

phoenix 1st try
pdx tap 1st try
magellan > plo > rpt again, want tohit it every session from now
toe drifter bs strong first try
flip dlo 1st try
pixie ducking clip bsos, finally!

Played again with Vince yesterday, he started linking combo. I remember at least those :

clip > near pick-up bs
clip > far legover bs
most mix with legover and pickup bs
some other stuff with mirage and legover/pickup

Next time I'll try to push him to hit 3-4 contact combos, I'm sure he can.

Real glad I found him, fun having a shred buddy.

Edit : hey tom, thx for your input here, was fun meeting you too!

FINALLY TOOK MY CAST OFF YESTERDAY YAYYY. Feel so good!! My hand is still bigger than usual but doctors told me it is normal and x-ray shows it is fine. I still have to wrap my 2 smallest finger together so the biggest of the 2 is like doing the physio for my smallest one. Not too bothering anyway!

Played a few times lately, I feel like I'm not improving enough lately, sad. Needed to let my knee heal and now that it feels better I'm planning to play more often. I feel like I have to get back in my game and drill the shit out of every basic. Not that they are bad, but I don't think they're all strong enough. I mean, I've read people saying they can hit 80+ tiltless, I have never gotten to 50. I think it is the reason why my shuffle aint improving as fast as I would like to. I been practicing much more my bop and ducking game too. I want to start drilling spinning too, hope I'll be able to. At least there is still few improvement, my osis are getting a lot better and my clipper game in general too. No real highlights but on a good note :

Hit flip DATW (fairy like)
flip whirl improving
so is flip dlo
