Don't worry about going tiltless for long, it's not that important
Rock the guiltless and never look back.

I can't do 50 titless. Mostly because I'd get bored. There are so many more options with guiltless.

Osis is very important. Take a few sessions and school it like crazy. Once you have that, with a few sets (pixie, step, spin and ducks) and a few dt compenents (whirl, drifter, dlo, datws) you're good to go.

Keep it up, we'll have a sesh soon.

Not being able to do 50tilt is pretty lame if you wanna become a good guiltless footbag player.
If you dont concentrate on string length and consistency of you tilt moves you'll have guiltless strings that are lower than 10 contacts with a bunch of BOP and a crappy stiff style.

If your gonna ingnore tiltless for a while, go ahead, but at least come back to it.

Ask the pros'(jordan, clavens, penske, ect.) for their opinions.

Believe it or not, but I happen to be a pro, I also happen to know what I'm talking about. Call me lame but I didn't get good by schooling pickups all day.
You can only go so far with 5 moves to work with. Always push yourself to new levels. The switch to guiltess is not difficult, and should come naturally without having to think about hitting a set number of this or that.

Sorry If I unsulted you or anything.
Im still kind of new knew to footbag.
Just the other day I found out penske got into BAP years ago(im so stupid).

I understand switching to guilt does open up a new world of fun and joy, but tiltless shouldnt be ignored.
Its the foundation that leads a player to a clean style and form.

This is very true. Thats what happened to me.
The moves should naturally come without trying the trick over and over a million times.
For example pixie legover. If you drill your downtime legovers and pixies to hell, then the move should come to you much easier.

Thx both for taking the time to post here. James we definitely have to play soon I'll pm you my msn so we can arrange something.

As for me going guiltless I kind of get what both of you mean. You both want to help me and I'm grateful(right word?sp?) for that. I understand I need to work on my guiltless I want to become so but there is definitely few flaws I need to work in my tiltless. Anyway I got that new guy in the game and I'm working it with him right now so I hope it'll be strong enough soon.

Shred is fun! However, I miss playing with people, haven't played with anyone since MSJ2.

That said, it is both good and bad, I'm drilling more especially my clip game which is getting better. I hit 20 infinity today, butterfly > pdx mirage > rpt * 5 and 4 ducking clipper b2b. Good for me. I'm not sure if I should wait like 2-3 more weeks before showing up again, I'm like a little step better than I was last time, but waiting like 2-3 more weeks would make this step lot bigger. Would be fun to come and surprise everyone. But I miss playing with the guys so I don't think I'll wait!

So shred is good but I have not drilled my tiltless as much as I should, still some improvement, finally got the hang out of ss mirage so mirage > ss mirage > rpt so it's easy. Doing lot of consecutives pick-up too and they're getting better. When I do them sloppy form I can hit 10 easy but it takes so much energy and I have no control on them. With the improved form I'm working on I have better control and much more effortless. But they're still harder so hitting 10 ain't that easy with this form, I'll get them soon for sure if I keep doing them every session. Next is illusion and ss illusion, they're not too bad but not nearly as good as mirage and legovers. After that I'll start doing long tiltless runs as drilling.

With butterfly and pdx mirage that I can consider as bails now I'm getting lot closer to guiltless, osis is getting there too but not even close to a bail. I'm definitely not ready for guiltless only but it's cool to see I can go guiltless if I decide to and not drop after 2-3 contacts. My best so far is probably around 10-12 ( except for drills like repeating infinity or butterfly > pdx mirage > rpt ).

I'm currently working on more downtime in my game too, downtime are so harder to learn than uptime for me. Whirls are getting better but definitely not close to be good. I mean, whirl > infinity > rpt is damn hard for me. DLO's are getting there without too much work thought so it's good. Next are definitely going to be drifter, eggbeaters and dynos or torques when my osis will be better.

So that's about it, long post only about shred but I haven't posted on my shred since a while so most of my thoughts are in there. Hope I haven't bored too much people. I finally bought a new keyboard ( the one I had had the key e i s f g that didn't worked anymore all of a sudden since like a month, so I was writing at the minimum and with the visual keyboard of windows, really annoying, finally in the past! ) so I should be around a little more, but I don't feel like updating my blog after every session like before so we'll see.

About the whole tiltless and guiltless thing, from my point of view it really doesn't matter. I mean, it is important to school the basics, and I am far from a pro player as James referred to, but you can always go back. In a session of 2 hours tiltless, I found myself unmotivated, unchallenged, and it didn't make me want to go practise again. Take 20 minutes a session to drill illusion->mirage->legover *rpt and hit it as many times as possible, and then go on guiltless mixed with tiltless, so, illusion -> smear -> legover *rpt and mix it up like that for another 10 minutes.

Anyway, your last highlights were great, and I'm sure you'll improve alot between now and worlds. I know you don't add hunt, but for this post I'd like to ignore it.

Hit 2 fearless in a tiltless run. If that is easy, hit 4.

Times for a weekly updates, I like that way of updating my blog so I'll probably stick to it!

Not that much to say this week, I haven't played too much during the past week because I didn't had much time and last week-end was the Saint-Jean Baptiste holiday ( which is quebec holiday ). And this week-end is like the biggest party in quebec every year, this holiday pretty much means PARTY TIME BUDDY. So I had a party on saturday which was awesome, I don't think I've ever drank that much, I kinda forgot the 2-4 am part lolz. The day after was the holiday so I got to the MegaProject in St-Hubert and there was like 60K ppl for the show and party.

The rest of the week was pretty much filled with work and shred, worked everyday. It was so humid I just haven't been able to have a whole good shred session, it was like 35°C plus 80% humidex. For those who live in dry countries, it is just impossible to play too long, after like 2 minutes I'm as wet as if I was getting out of a pool.

Anyway, I'm thinking about my routine song a lot lately, I have a few ideas but I'm not convinced so still looking. Anyone who has any good ideas, go ahead, I like most type of musics and I'm open-minded on my routine song.

On my shred note, nothing really new, just fooling around with basics and pixies, I really need to work stepping, I just don't know why I don't do it more. Nice and easy set, so useful too. I need to work on it. I've hit ripwalk > ripwalk once and never again since ( it was at MSJ2 on the first day). I'll really give that a go in my next session. Probably going to shred for like an half hour tonight so I'll try it.

Time for a weekly update! Sorry to say so Jay, but I still haven't even tried to hit 2 5's in a run. I'm sure I could either hit phoenix or legbreaker bsos in a tiltless run. I should try tomorrow night when I'll play with Kolo. It will be my first session with someone else since MSJ2. A whole month playing solo. Wow.

So during the last week I think I played 3 times, don't remember anything from last week's session (after my last post) but I do remember a few nice stuff from today and yesterday session. I'll come back on that later in this post.

I went to paintball last monday, it was so fun, I haven't played in the last 2 years :O. I don't think I had previously stopped playing for more than 3 or 4 months since my first game like 8 years ago. I have my whole equipment and love playing this sport. Adrenaline is just so high when you play and feel the ball going few inches by your head. We won most of the game during the day and I'm sure I got the most kill/dead ratio from everyone there. I can swear I killed at least 30 persons and died only twice. Crazy. Crazy fun too. It was definitely one of my best game ever.

I had a soccer game, we tied but we should have won that game if it wasn't of this shitty referee. I rarely say that but he really changed the way the game would have ended. I wont ramble too much in here but it is sad. Anyway we're now 2-2-2 which isn't so bad. I wish better for the rest of the season but every year I played we always had bad start so I guess we'll set this up in time this year again.

So finally on my personal shred note, I played decently during my lasts sessions. But I'm doing less and less sets in my runs right now, trying to integrate more bops+ducking clips and few dlo's and whirls midstring(not too succesfully on that last note). Working lot of tiltless too which is helping.

Highlights :

60 legovers
25 pick-ups ( with my new technique for doing them )
30 tiltless many times pretty easily
whirl > osis bsos
ducking clip * 4
spinning clip bs
dlo bsos
whirl bsos
ripwalk > ripwalk bs

I'm probably forgetting stuff. I just want to mention that osis are still getting better. But I think I have a form problem with my flip osis, it will work but not as well as my strong one and I'm almost always bailing to far legover because of lack of control on this side.

I shredded with Kolo for a 2 hours session, first half hour was not really productive because we played with two slackers and I was warming up. The last hour and a half was pretty good.

Here's few highlights I remember :

pixie ss clipper > near dlo > rpt
5 contacts of pdx mirage > smear > dimwalk > rpt dropped on the last dimwalk
pixie paradon
clipper set double pick-up
diving clipper > ducking clipper bs
(infinity > infinity > osis) > rpt > infinity > osis > infinity > osis > osis > infinity > osis (drop)
dyno bs finally sealed them
gyro pick-up strong side(first time)
gyro mirage flip side(first time)
symp whirl 2 or 3 times on strong ( the only other time I had tried it was at MSJ2 and I had hit it first try so it felt good to see I still can do them )

I think that's about it, it was a good session :). Playing with someone else definitely helped.

Edit :

Oh and footed fairy ducking clipper bs plus atomic ducking clipper one side
and almostttttt phoenix bsos
Edit2 :
oh and reverse whirling rake which I was really happy about, coool move! forgotted to hit it flip :(

far rev whirling rake bs, footed bsos
pixie rev whirling rake bs ( new 5 ! )
8 contacts of magellan > plo > rpt
stepping ss clipper > infinity > rpt
whirl > infinity > rpt 5 contacts (drop on the infinity bcuz of bad control on 3rd whirl)
dyno bs again, felt really controlled

Hey Mathieu!

Thanks for the comment in my blog! I figured I'd hit you back.

Is Pixie Paradon your first 3-dex? Either way it's a sweet move, and doesn't it feel so good to hit?

I see you're getting better all the time. Can't wait to shred again with you buddy!!

Hi dear blog,

to josh : no it's not my first 3 dexs, I have also hit pigbeater and pixie dlo. I will give a good shot to flip pixie dlo now that my flip dlo is getting good. It would be my first bs 3 dexs :).

I've only shred twice I think since my last post but I've shred for a good 3 hours today with Mathieu and it was pretty succesful for me. Sad it wasn't too much for him. So here's few highlights from today and one from last sesh ( the first ) :

far rev whirling rake bsos
flip pdx dlo
toe dlo and near dlo bsos in one string
pdx mirage > smear > dimwalk > rpt 7 contacts
pixie ss clipper > near dlo > rpt first try
tap > plo > rpt 3 contacts starting from every move and some twice, I was so worned out at the time I started trying it I'll hit it next session for sure
atomsmasher and tap bsos in one string
whirl > infinity > whirl > string twice
both torque we're kinda hit but not sealed, both did go up and I had a good feeling of the move
fairy butterfly bsos
legbeater bsos
flip eggbeater first try, dropped my strong one bcuz I'm stupid

Apart from that, there's not much news since last post. There's a girl I like but she have a boyfriend. She seems to like me too thought but I don't want that to turn into friendship so I don't know how to act too much. I hate those kind of things. I don't know her boyfriend at least so I don't care too much. Wish me good luck.

Wow, a good while without posting! I had quite few sessions since last post. I'm getting closer to guiltless everyday. Today I hit my best run ever in front of some kid asking me to shred while passing in front of my house and seeing me outside. That was so good, 30 contacts or close to and only 4-5 guilts. It had smear, dimwalk, stepping far legover, dlo, plo, tap, osis bsos and few other like one fairy ss mirage, ducking clipper, pixie ss clipper and of course a few pdx mirage and butterfly. This is BY FAR the best string I ever hit. But apart from that today wasn't that succesful, I wasn't able to got over 10 infinity which shouldn't be that hard. Worked a bit on osis, whirl and my usual shuffle.

I can feel worlds coming so fast. In 2 days 7 of my good friends with who I work leave for cuba, it will probably be the borrest 2 weeks of work ever. But I won't complain because I leave on the day after they came back so it is a good reason to wait. I don't think I'll prepare anything for worlds, maybe a shred 30 but I'm not sure how to do that. I definitely wont have enough time to practice a routine and I'm not sure about a shred 30 either.

I can't wait to meet a few of the peoples I seen at MSJ2 and other that I talked to here. I hope I'll play fairly well during the week and wont ridiculize myself. Want to represent well. I'm happy of where I am in my game after a little more than 10 months in the game but I'd like to be better. I always want more. But I need time I guess. Anyway, worlds is in 2 weeks and it'll be fun for sure. I have a lot of stuffs to prepare before leaving. Have to figure out what I'll need to buy before leaving.

Hey everyone, (wtf?!?!? haven't posted in 2 weeks!)

I can feel worlds, I can almost taste it. Can't wait to be there, I'm not ready at all for my routine neither shred 30. I still don't know if I'll do both. 3 days before I leave. I'll definitely be doing my routine because Mathieu Gauthier put lots of pressure on me to compete in this. Tomorrow morning I have to prepare a little more. I'll probably be doing the last touch just before the competition and whatever happens I'll be happy and still will have learned a lot. I hope to get throught qualifications and that's it. For my shred 30, I don't know, maybe I'll just get up there and try to get the best score I can by shredding.

My preparation for worlds is done, only need to pack everything. I have friday off and saturday morning until 12:00 ( I leave for the airport at this time ) so still plenty of time. Wish me good luck ( I'll need some !! ).

Worlds will be fun, YEAHHHHHH
See ya there

Came back from worlds on monday. It was amazing. All night partying in a different house. Sometimes real late shredding in the garage while drinking beer. Played more than I ever thought I was going to play. Legs have been sore since I'm back. Trying to hold back from playing but I just want to shred even more. I've met a lot of people there, a bunch I'll see again I'm sure and sadly some I may never see again. A write-up will come soon, maybe tonight maybe later I don't know.

So my resume of worlds starts with taking the plane on the 11th. This was a saturday and me and Caro seen each other at the airport, I already knew we were in the same plane. We took the plane and then arrived in Detroit where we walked in the airport ( soooo big, so many stores this was like a shopping center ) and than decide to drink a beer.... which ended up being two ( really big one, at least two bottles each ) so I took the plane being a bit dizzy to go to Orlando.

Arrived there we pick up our luggage than try to find Sebas for a while before we saw him at the other end of the airport walking around. Ended up he forgot to pick our plane number with him so he just tried finding us. He was with Dylan Fry, a really really fun guy that I knew was bap but I didn't really knew much about him. He finally stayed with us and I had a lot of fun time hanging out with him.

We headed to Terra Verde and gone to Jon's house where I've met Ben Roscow and David Clavens for the first time. I've seen Will Digges and Drew Martin that I've previously met in montreal. We didn't stayed long and I got home before going to swim because I was still awake and than slept like a baby.

The day after was pretty much just fooling around for most of the day, I had my first shred there barefoot and realized that I totally suck barefoot. I can't do shit. But I've hit one of the biggest highlights of the week, my first Merlin. This was with Will and Julien Coté ( from Quebec city ).

After that we ate a bit than fooled around before heading to the garage where we had a short sesh of 30 mins or so. I remember hitting a real good string I was really stoked about.

At night I gone to Moshers house where I watched some real cool shred by Jon Schneider and some other good players ( don't remember who it was that night ). We had some smoked a few beer too, it was fun. I was really impressed by Jon Schneider and all the weird stuff he does.

More to come!

Edit : Oh and I forgot to mention something that happened on the sunday, it was soo funny. We played four square in our house with Mathieu G and Henry G, but with the 1 feet square floor. It was so damn funny. It was my second time meeting Henry, cool guy.

Hey again, I forgot to mention that it was the day I first met Jay Boychuk. I have been talking with him for quite a while now and we're both looking at each others progression but we have a really different style. It was fun meeting him and see his bigggg variety. Bop + ducking clipper, whirl and stuff are just as good as my tiltless is which is I think, pretty good.

We played and Aaron Orton came, cool guy, first trick he does is blurry barrage. Me and Jay are all like WOWWWW. He tries it and came close, didn't hit it. Then I try pdx barrage and first try I hit it, I was so damn happy! I remember that it was the first time I met Dan Ednie too. Such a nice guy. I was playing with others ( Zac Miley, Zeb Jackson... Aaron Sheppard maybe?? I don't remember ) and he just came to us and said Hi and entered our circle. It was fun. It was my first time meeting Zac and Zeb too I think or the first day at least.

Next day me and Will went to Moshers house before to have some buzz. I've met cool guys for the first time there. Ken Somolinos, I had previously talked with him on the chat so it was fun to meet him in person. Jim Penske, cool guy, he showed me how to use an apple to smoke I was like WTF?!? This was the first time ever hearing that people we're using apple to smoke.

Than we headed to the site but I don't remember much from that day. I know I played a bit but I think I only played for only like an hour and a half because comps we're on the wednesday for intermediate. I think that was the first day I've met Lon, such a funny guy.

More later.
