New Years Jam 2007

Post by CIC flurry » 29 Aug 2007 10:49

8th Annual New Year's Jam - December 28-30
Chicago, Illinois, USA

Info
Event
Holiday Sports Festival
The event takes place in a big convention center where the auto show takes place every year. The place is packed with every kind of sport out there, and you can try them. Tens of thousands of people come through there.

50+ kickers come from all over North America. We shred, 4 square, try other sports and games, then eat good Chicago pizza and sandwiches, and make up really fun ghetto games like left hand throw and crotch fire, and wander around the dark empty McCormick Center and play footbag golf...
wake up - eat pancakes and repeat.

Comps: Circle, 4 square, Rippin Run, Combo Generator, Sick 1/3

Schedule:
Every day we have the site from 10AM-4PM and 7PM-10PM.
At night we must meet at the bottom of the stairs to McCormick Place @ 645PM and leave all together @ 700 to walk to the site, then leave promptly @ 1000PM. No wandering @ night from 7-10.

Hotel
Hyatt McCormick (312-567-1234) http://mccormickplace.hyatt.com
The hotel is huge and fancy. The convention center where all the sports will be is attached to the hotel. You don't have to drive to the jam. Just wake up and walk on over through the hotel. Rates are discounted for us - $86 (normally $200-300). Mention "Mayor Daley's Holiday Sports Festival" for the discount.

Need crash space? Post in thread, and someone will scoop you into their room.

How to get there
-Airport
Everyone has been picked up in the past. O'Hare is the preferred airport, but Midway is doable. Post your flight details (date, time, airline, terminal). Circle comp will take place the first day @ 11 or 12, so keep this in mind if you want to compete, and also getting a ride around this time might be difficult.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

Mathieu is a NYJ veteran and knows what he's doing.

The Chicago NYJ is just a small part of Mayor Daley's Holiday Sports Festival. Footbag is one of the featured sports at the huge indoor venue. Tournament director Scott Davidson is given the site, CIC & friends help out, everybody comes, footbag & parties for 3 days/2 nights at the hotel and has an unforgettable time.

GENERAL INFO ABOUT THE HOLIDAY SPORTS FESTIVAL

Special thanks to Mike Hansen for all he's done to help us out over the years. Always going selflessly above and beyond the call of duty. If you are near Mike Hansen, do something incredibly nice to him right now, he deserves it. Repeat if necessary.

A flight to Chicago seems to be, like, more than it cost to fly to Florida :?
In case I happen to decide to book, which airport would I want to fly to? It says there's, like 3...

I'll talk to Evan and see if he can go. We will try.

Do we need a hotel/rental car/airport pick up/etc?

hotel will be super cheap if you even pay anything. We all stay in a super huge suite together. You dont need a rental car, and odds are you will get a free ride to and from the airport!

What does everyone think of checking into the hotel the day before the event starts .... that way LaRaZa isn't overly packed and smelly ... and we can make it to the event on time for the first day too! :D
just an idea.
check in on the 27th and check out on the 30th.
