What makes you happy?

Post by StyleeRiley » 11 Sep 2007 19:04

I've been reading pretty deep into this 'pet peeves' thread, and it's pretty interesting, but it's so negative. Huge props to Kevin for starting another long-lived thread (and for being really good at footbag), but let's take modified in a more positive direction by posting about what makes us happy. I'll get it started:

I like unicorns and rainbows

*hitting something new in footbag
*playing footbag
*dancing
*watching good basketball, especially seeing my team win a close game.
*veggie tempura
*savoring a nice glass of good scotch
*going on a first date, even if its awkward
*mitch hedburg's comedy
*having people laugh at my jokes
*the "swish" sound of your shot making it through the hoop.
*long summer footbag sessions with NYFA, where watching girls and making jokes are as important as playing, and you feel like you have a million tries and all day to hit whatever you want.

It really is a shame that Mitch Hedburg is dead... He was funny in a unique way. I wonder if he ever handcuffed that suitcase to his wrist...

-Having exactly what I'm craving sitting in the cupboard. (I mean foodwise)
-Having a weekend off.
-Cat/dog/both sleeping on my feet at night.
-Winter. Brings people closer together, and I love blankets, so yeah.
-Rainy days for sure.
-Learning something new, that's fun. It has to be fun though.
-Seeing a really professional looking piece of machinema. Such as Red vs Blue.
-A night spent with the group just playing some old school Halo 1 on LAN, no drinking or anything like that. Just, old school, lol.
-"celebrating" anything with the group.
-New clothes. I don't know why... I'm not a shop freak, but new clothes tickle me pink. Even worse with shoes.
-Music. Just, music. No country though, ick.
-Chillaxin' at home or at a friend's house. Just, kickin' back, either talkin' or just... not talkin', lol.
-Movies. Preferably at home.
-This is gonna sound weird... but... Hooking up surround sound systems. I do NOT know why this is so great, but it's just a hawt dawg moment for me. I LOVE hooking up the stereo cords and whatnot... It's so weird. Got to do it last night because I got two new speakers for my stereo. I was ecstatic.
-Comedy and humor. Anyone watching Last Comic Standing? Love that guy that had the joke about taping penises together, lmfao. I cried.
-Cant' forget footbag.

My cat Bryson. He's the best little guy, and he loves me more than anyone. I would spend all my time with him if I could just do that and get paid to do it.

All things guitar, except for soulless solos.
Playing guitar with friends.
Playing guitar alone.
Listening to guitar with friends.
Listening to guitar alone.
Discovering new ways to make new sounds.
Discovering more effecient ways to get the job done.
Learning from other people.
Teaching other people.
Watching those who love to play, whether they are the best or the worst.
Having someone forget that they are listening to music because they are just feeling it.
Trying new guitars, and being reassured that the guitars I have are still my favorites.
I played a song for a friend of mine the other day, she hadn't heard me play in over a year, and she sang it word for word with me. The song is 10 minutes long and doesn't really repeat itself. That warmed my heart.
Watching my sister play.
Having my sister want to watch me play.
Applause.
Applauding those who deserve it.
Encouraging those who don't.

Other than that, being silly makes me happy.
Smiling kids.
Kids that dance.
Seeing a youngin's face light up when I juggle or footbag.
Senior couples holding hands, because that gives me hope that maybe someday someone will want to grow old with me.

Making new friends.
Meeting up with old ones.

And of course, footbag

Being exhausted after a long day of hiking
Flowers 'n stuff
Trees, especially larch, noble fir, aspens and redwoods

Yeah, I played those (Or watched my brother play them) when I was about 10. Definitely some kickass games. Only played those two though.
