And now I have hit rev whirl clipper set both sides :D

I had 1.5-2 hour session today. It was a decent one. I really haven't been able to do some of my challenges yet because of my ankle. The ones I want to do first involve the symp/symple stuff. But I did get about halfway through the BOP drill. I was really happy about that since I've never really had that much success in that area before (mainly doing stuff besides a legover out of osis).

The shin on the good ankle leg was hurting hard core today. I decided to calm down and work on flipside ducking mirages. Made a little bit of progress. I soon decided to try ducking mirage > ducking butterfly flipside. I got really close the first few times but no cigar at first. I hit it strongside after a few tries then went back to flip side and soon hit it=)

I always seem to want to drills I make up mid session instead of the challenges I have. Its becoming a bad habit. I don't remember the one from yesterday but today I was trying near pickup > ss mirage > ss butterfly > rpt. I got it after a little while and it felt nice and smooth, which was good.

Okay have a good day :P

EDIT: woo finally a second page :!:

One hour session today, I worked on BOP drill more. Drilled whirls a little more for the other challenge. Ended the session with runs. A couple decent ones for this point. Thats all

Okay, so I'm back.

On the way back, traffic was mildly killer, so my already planned late arribal to the NYFA shred symposium was delayed even further. My brother, my friend tony, and I missed the train so of course we have to wait an hour for the next one. So blah blah blah, I make it to central park by like 4:30 (ouch).

So we arrive and go to a booth where Waylon is sitting. I did not know it was Waylon until he said so and in my mind I was like "oh snap". We talk, I get my players pack, Barrett comes by and we meet him, and in my n00bery Waylon directs me to go join in a circle. We slowly migrate over to where people are playing and I eventually ask to join a circle. The circle contains Jon Schneider and either a Bruce or a Lewis. I couldn't hear that well. At this point I'm quite nervous and drop the bag easily even with kicking. Time goes on as I witness some really sweet moves and such. I don't remember the order of arrival but a Dave and Bryce Lender appeared at some point and Jon moved on to other footbagging activities. After a little bit I get more comfortable and this whole time I've been kind of awestruck due to the fact that I'm finally seeing footbag in real life. Time goes by and I meet really cool people such as Ken Somolinos and Matt cross.

The circle is eventually back to me, Dave, and Bryce. After a decent amount of attempts and encouragement, I finallty hit ripwalk :!:

Okay, I will continue the story later

Okay so things were now wrapping up. I bought a bag from Matt Cross, which was sweet. We all soon headed to the restaraunt, Josie's. We walk in the door and some guy asks if everyone is 21, and in my head I tell myself that this is quite the predicament. Luckily, Barrett had previously spoken with the manager or someone like that of the pub and we were all good.

Everyone sat down at tables. I ended up with my brother Ed, my friend Tony, a Mike, a Tim, Anita, and Jorden! I didn't do too much talking. I was just enjoying the experience as a whole. Everyone was really cool. I can't believe I was so fortunate to get at a table like that. So eventually, me, my brother, and Tony all left to take the train home. Sleep blah blah blah.

So sunday morning we (minus tony) get up to return to nyc. Of course, we miss the train by seconds...again. So we wait, blah blah blah. After such and such we arrive in nyc. We take a cab to Union Square. People are playing and such. And oddly enough, there's a ping pong event going on right next to us. Pete Bowler starts to warm up and shred and Matt Cross provides backround music with his guitar. Eventually circles form and I eventually join one with Pete Bowler, Taylor, the Dave from the day before, and one more whos name never made it to my ear. I did crappy for the most part.

Matt Cross leaves his circle and asks for two from our circle so me and Dave go. This circle was awesome. I love both Dave's and Matt's style. Dave's is so cool with all of the flying/kicking moves instead of all stalls. And Matt Cross is Matt Cross, his style is just cool looking. Its along the lines of how I want to look in due time (with my own additions of course).

After purchasing some very rad shorts, Waylon came over and shredded with us. This was yet again, awesome. Playing with such well known people was like a dream come true. Waylon's bounciness was really cool and I loved the way his magellans looked.

I played better since I was warmed up and I was happy with my game. I was able to do more rakes instead of just kind of forgetting about it in my head. And I felt like I had to make or utilize my own style since I was playing with people of such unique styles. I hit a couple ducking mirages including a first try flipside one. When I tried my flip symp mirages, which involved bad ankle, I hit like all of them to my surprise. As the storm was approaching I hit ducking symp mirage second try and was also happy about that.

Alas, the bad weather rolled in and we had to prematurely pack it up. I was bummed about this since I missed all of the competition and such the day before, but oh well, I'll happily take what I can get. I said bye to a couple people and Waylon caught me to say bye as I was leaving. He said nice things about this being my first footbag event and such, so it was nice words to end off with. I met up with my brother at the museum of natural history and that is that.

So now that the tourny posts are out of the way, I had a session today. As a way to start breaking in my Matt Cross bag, I decided to play how many kicks can you get. I got to 91 on my first try and then stopped.

Since I've had recent success with my ducking mirages, I decided to give ducking illusions a whack. I hit it 4th try I believe. Flipside wasn't working so hot so I decided to move to that another time. And I fiiiiinallyyy hit ducking paradox mirage. I've been trying for a few weeks to no avail. I almost hit it sunday but it went flying off my toe. But today I hit it twice! I was working on bsosing ducking mirages so I was so close to hitting it bsos but had a near miss on the strong side one. So that was an alright session. After playing with other people I've found for desire to play and more confidence. Definitely a great experience

Two shortish sessions today

First: Was just mediocre. I was in the sun and not hydrated well enough and it was really really hot. Hit ripwalk again. Hit ducking paradox mirage again. Still no flipside(?) on either trick. Worked on bsosing ducking mirage again. Got freakishly freakishly close, but of course i'd move one leg to much or too little and BAM, drop.

Second: Had intention of drilling whirls, trying to hit drifter, and work stepping a bit more. I think the key for stepping for me is just to stay relaxed and keep upright and don't lean over it. After a short while, I somehow ended up drilling pixie. Best sidetrack of my life :!: I put Matt Cross's advice to use. As a result, I hit dimwalk bs, smear bs, parkwalk, PLO, and smudge. If I had more time to play, I might've hit everything bs. Really can't know for sure. None the less, I finally did pixie stuff flipside! I'm really bummed that I won't be playing tomorrow.. Ever since the tournament, I'm just so eager. I could actually get up at like 7 tomorrow and play. I think I will!

Shredded a bit today to film my entry for the sick link comp. My plan was to do ducking symp mirage > diving rake....and I did! This made me feel great because I couldn't even do symp mirage > diving rake and so on for the sick 3 one month ago. I'm also still working on stepping and pixie with steady success in each area.
This is one of those times where you know you're making progress and it feels great :!:

Two and a half hour session today. Another good session

Highlights:
More Ripwalks
Ripwalks flipside
Almost Ripwalking rake
Sidewalk bs
PLO b2b
Ducking Mirage > Legover> rpt
Gyro Clipper flipside
Gyro Rake
Spinning Ducking Clipper
More consistent whirls
Entire shirt covered in sweat

A downer though is that I can't really seem to get into drills. I know I need them to progress my game and lengthen my strings, but I just can't get into them. I try them then after 5-10 minutes I get bored. The worst part is that I'm not even finishing the drills. Then other times I'll be trying drills that I probably shouldn't be doing yet. Example: I was working on Ducking mirage > Diving Mirage > rpt. I missed it by the last diving mirage at one point. But this drill won't help my basics. The ones in my challenge thread will.

Maybe I should just start listening to music while I shred again.

Another two and a half hour session

Highlights:
Dimwalk rake bs (flipside is eh but I'll work on it)
Rev whirling rake bs (almost bsos)
Either Rev swirling rake or better looking gyro toe (probably gyro toe  I'll try to film it to get a better perspective.)
More longer strings (finally got past 11 tiltless again. Ended the day on 14)

Thats all for today, thanks fo reading!

Today was only a one and a half hour session.

I opened it up drilling legovers, pickups, and clippers then moved on to stringing.

I got up to 16 tiltless today :)

Still working on more consistent strings and such. I'm also getting more ducking and symp mirages into my strings, which is cool.

After I was happy with stringing, I decided to be my normal self do try new stuff or make weird stuff better. I'm 90% sure that the one move is just a fancier gyro toe as opposed to a rev swirling rake. I knew it was too good to be true

I did foot swirl 3 times today and landed a dragon once or twice today and once yesterday. I would truly love to work those into my strings. Gyro/Spinning is finally starting to click on my other side.

And thats all for today!

One hour and 17 minute session today.

No new tricks this time. I was trying to not mess around today. I got to 18 tiltless, a 15er where i dropped on flipside ducking mirage which would have been bsos if I didn't drop. Then a few more in the 9-12 range. I have to say that it feels quite nice having longer strings. Yeah. Thats it today. yay.

I'm lovin the bag. It seems like it'll be fantastical once its broken in. It'll be a good replacement for my abshire with a gazillion holes in it. Whats the filler? It just has a nice feel to it.

NYFA was definitely sweet. It was awesome meeting other people for once. It made me realize what I had been missing out on this whole time.

I'm definitely tired by the end of it. I generally sleep for an hour or two later in the day because of it. And I do also get bored from time to time. I just try to never end the session on a bad note so I keep on going. Its just something I really enjoy doing. And I need the exercise for soccer which starts in 12 days..

And yay for almost done bag :D
