I agree (on both points)Change the name to what it actually is "Jeremy's list of video verified World Records!". This I would respect and not say another word.
Jeremy O'Wheel's Freestyle World Record List
Sorry, I was obviously feeling very childish when I woke up this morning.
I have deleted any changes I may have made. I'm not renaming the list. If you don't like it, start your own.
You've expressed yourself, and I think the opinions put forward are so ridiculous and divergent from reality that I don't have the energy or the motivation to respond at all.
There is only one thing you've said that doesn't sound like it comes from a crazy person;
You don't like the list. Fine. Don't read about it. I'm not going to be drawn in to these kinds of debates any more.

Let's be realistic here.

I didn't concede, I changed the name in order to ridicule the people asking for the name to be changed because they're idiots.
Again, like with the aborted change of the move list, in case you lack the ability to realise it, I don't actually think it's any kind of loss, or that you're contributions to this topic have been anything other than stupid, insane and negative.
Wow, what a big loss. Because your input in this project so far has been so useful and constructive. That's fine! You lost all respect from me!

I got a bit lost by all the random arguing in this thread, but going back, I think the best response to these statements was two posts earlier:Jeremy wrote:Do people really spend hours training every week so they can get on my world record list, or do they want to impress people at tournaments and get good results? How many people are motivated in how they play by world record lists?
I reject the notion that this list will have any king of effect on the nature of how people choose to play footbag or their trick selection.
The bold part was done by me.zeroman13 wrote:Wouldn't this be Ss Symposium Mirage? Either way, it's on Ken!C-Fan wrote:23 symposium pixies

Clearly the list did have some kind of impact on how someone chose to play footbag. While there is a part of footbag where players want to "impress people at tournaments and get good results", there are also other ways to be motivated in the sport. So if someone is driven to hit a world record, or even a personal one, because of this list, then cool.

Uh... aren't you the guy who compared him to Hitler?
Seriously, this whole page is embarassing. I'd normally recommend this thread get locked because it's getting hijacked, but it's too valuable a resource to do that. I suggest the posts on this page just get deleted and we get back to posting videos and discussing things civilly.
Damon: you have voiced your opinion. If you don't like Jeremy's list, either make your own, or don't read this thread. There's really nothing else you can do or accomplish by continuing to post here.
Jeremy: the merit of your project is pretty clear. I suggest you re-read your first post in this thread to remind yourself why this is a good project, and why you don't need to worry about pleasing everybody.
Sure, but is that comparable with playing for a few hours every day for a few years?
I've had my little battles for records in the past before (esp. Daryl Genz, Lon Smith and I competing for the pixie legover record), but it clearly didn't have an impact on any of our games.
The argument I was addressing was that this list will have a significant impact on the future of freestyle footbag and in particular people's trick selections. I find this very hard to believe, and I don't understand why other people can't maintain their own list of records for moves that are not on the list, or keep Lon's list maintained as well if they're worried about this.
If I only had 3 moves on the list, would all footbaggers get really good at those three moves? Of course not. There are literally hundreds of footbaggers in the world and only a very small percentage of those have even attempted to film records for my list, let alone going to the effort of changing their game to make them more likely to have records. It's a ridiculous argument that makes no sense.
What's really going on, is a small number of people want to have a say in this record list, but aren't prepared to actually do anything at all. There's nothing stopping them creating a wiki page on footbag.org saying "Video verified legbeater rake world records" or whatever, and that would have just as much validity as my record.
They refused to help, they refuse to offer solutions, they are clearly deluded about reality and they refuse to do any actual work themselves, despite putting up the pretence of seriously caring about the issue.
Anyway I'm now using the ignore button for such people, so hopefully we can discuss real and serious issues in this topic without worrying about me going nuts and responding to those people. I say people, but really it's only Ian and Damon, so a tiny minority.

Well I for one like the record list the way it is and I don't think many changes need to be made. I don't feel that the list is going to take away any originality from the sport in any way. I also don't think that Jeremy should be referenced to Hitler for creating the list.
Oh and by the way I updated my site so the link on the list that points towards my toe stall record doesn't exist anymore. I relocated the page to here: http://nathanfootbag.com/?page_id=2

I could look for a site that hosts big video files but unfortunately I can't find the video on my computer anymore. I think it disappeared the last time I reformatted my hard drive. Oh well, I agree it doesn't look very legit having a record spread up in a bunch of videos. I might re-capture the record on camera some day when I'm incredibly bored, but until then I'll stick to records that don't take ten years to upload
