matt, I guess i am coming to funtastics, i will grab it there? assuming your going :P

Thanks about the form and style and stuff, matt cross said that too, although i'm not sure what you guys mean.. But it sounds good! so Hey thanks :)

Ps whirls are not midstring, although i am trying to make them. I've hit Ps whirl to Symp whirl. and PS whirl < reverse swirl.

So from today on i can now never say i have never rolled or almost rolled an ankle playing footbag. Attempting Blurrage because my friend wanted me to, and fell on my outside of my foot. Its a little swollen, but i played on it for 2 hours after so not that bad lol. I'm assuming it will be fine as long as i don't do the exact same thing again. i've been stretching it too.

Played well today, control was good for my 30% tiltless strings with 3's and 4's. Also hit blurry whirl < blurry whirl. which felt ammmaaazzzziiinngg. Also i was surprised by the fact that i was showing some people what harder tricks were. So i did 2 add string, then 3 add string then 3 fours in a row. Then i listed off about 6 fives and hit 4 of them first try! that felt good too. Weather was fantastic today, i'm kind of like, extremely positive right now. thanks for reading if you got this far :)

I've kicked my other leg out from under me while doing whirl or ps whirl before and could have ate it bad, but i managed to take all my weight off it like 1 or 2 times.

I don't know what the hell you're talking about wanting to quit. I wish I could do ripped warrior>stepping ducking clipper or ripstein midstring.

Keep your head up my friend. I'll see you soon.

wanting to quit really meant: not take it seriously anymore, very little travel, maybe to Chicago but that's it ?

Anyways, the reason i even said that was because i have been needing to re-learn my right toe stall. This has proven to be difficult but i am actually making progress now. It also helped me figure out right toe set atomic which is dandy. My right foot clipper stall sucks too. I think i crank my ankle wrong here, but sometimes i do it right and sometimes i dont. A lot of concepts for me were starting to fade, which made me feel like my DNA was prohibiting me from getting much better - especially consistency.

Today, on the other hand, I played marvelously. Easily the best i have ever played.

New stuff:
Pixie far whirl > blurry whirl BS
PS whirl x 4
Footed Spinning symp swirl (love this trick)
Fog > Merlin > Frankenstein (dropped frknstn, third dex was barely too slow. Havent even hit Frankenstein yet.. This was a challenge by a friend lol.)

Perhaps more but i do remember hitting the new best string of my life. It included around 23 (give or take) contacts, Fog both sides, ducking clipper > Stepping ducking clipper, with spinning clipper in there too (spinning is still somewhat newer), paradox whirl and 8ish contacts were a shuffle with stepping/atomic/pixie of course.

Overall I had good control again today. Perhaps it was the weather. It was 74 degree's out (22C)

While I commend you for your (really) fast progress, I remain a little bitter about your claims to "not take it seriously" anymore.

We played during NYJ 2010, and you were a promising new player. I remember you specifically for having good butterfly form, and somehow hitting whirling swirl before me. I remember you being impressed at me doing a blurriest. Have you any idea whats its like to learn that a noob you played with ONE year ago, is far better than you now? One year.. One freakin' year is all it took for you to get twice as good as me after like 5 years playing....You're talking about DNA prohibiting you..and here I am unable to flip step after playing 5 years. Hell, at one point 4 years ago my flip step was my strong step. I think every single one of my sets has changed sides now. Every single time I flip step, it feels brand new like I've never done it before. For some reason I have to relearn it every...fucking...session. I think about it and I realize I've probably done flip stepping at least 2000 times. Talk about ridiculous...

Maybe you play like crazy. I've often deduced that a person who plays 8 hours a week should be roughly twice as good as a player that plays 4 hours a week, over any long term period of time. Actually, its probably more than 2x, due to some sort of exponential growth of neurons. Maybe theres some age multiplier as well. Four hours a week doesn't seem like much, but over the course of a long-term period of time it adds up.

You should decide whether to take footbag "seriously" or not. If so, you should really post more videos, cause you're ridiculously good. Hopefully I can take lessons from you next NYJ.

cory i don't even like looking at your footblog because im always worried your gunna be vasek klouda by now

keep playing dude don't get discouraged, it seems like (by what youve said) that your having problems with your flipside?
maybe do lots of drills for all your basics before warming up, always start with your flip? idk im only a year in but i stopped having problems with my flip basics after i began to start every drill on my flip side and really work on it first

you'd be amazed how helping your flip actually helps your strong, it makes no sense but it seems to
keep playing man, your gunna break brains

Pfft, Pointless to joke like that Conner; there is no resemblance between anyone and Vasek that I see. And tricks selection - not even close. If you don't remember, type in, "Footbag 2002 the golden child" on youtube. He was fourteen or fifteen years old pulling off that shit with that form and that style? Yeah.

Also Flip side is not what was giving me problems. It is my inability to correct my strong sides form with countless practice. Flip clipper has always given my trouble but I have realized it would take time a while ago i believe.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Psilocybe i remember you for sure. First off, i highly doubt that i am twice as good as you, I feel its more accurate to say i am where you were at NYJ 2009. And honestly, yes, my expectations were just too high. I dont understand how i can learn one thing easily and another not but certain things for whatever reason cause problems. My right toe stall i though to be easier to learn than furious set or something but apparently not. I won't go into any more but it is easier to just accept that whatever problems i got i got and to get past it i need to to an amount of work that i may be extreme. I will have my own problems that may not make sense.

Also it does seem likely that more ankle crank would help consistency, so DNA prohibiting my consistency because I don't have much crank. But after playing for two years i do realize that the crank won't effect me that much, or that i have already figured out how to crank enough to play decent. I Agree with the vasek manual, when he says footbag is all about the set, but i will also add the catch. You technically need to catch correctly to set perfectly and controlled, but yeah those are the two most important things i think right now. Its never about the ability to hit a trick, its about the ability to do a trick. I play about 5 hours a week, maybe 1 maybe 10 sometimes it depends. Worlds was like 25 hours lmfao.

Also this month is two years for me. So i will try and make a video before vegas. Good day ya'll

haha was just browsing your blog and thought I'd give some props, I've seen a bunch of your vids and saw you @ funtastiks this year, but didn't know you were only playing for 2 years... NUTS dude!

I really like your style and regardless of whether you stay "serious" about it, you'll be miles ahead of most, keep posting!

No I don't have the time this weekend. I want to go the weekend Ken is going to be there in June. But i'll be in school then too so I'll have to sort of play it by ear. Right now I got no time =/ And i'm still broke from vegas (didn't gamble) lmao...

I do plan on going to chicago twice this year and Kansas city (zac miley) twice this year. Although i wont have school Next Fall or spring so that means more time and probably more $ too. Pharmacy school in 2012 for me? I've been saying that over and over but i'm gonna go shadow a pharmacist and call UMKC (Kansas city missouri) for more info. Getting more and more serious about it.

soon I will have lots of free time Zach, and I am definitely willing to drive to Chicago more than once.

Today i played good. Only reason why I am even on here is to keep some kind of track of the good stuff i've hit.

Quantum Eggbeater (in shoes this time)
Whirr and Ripstein in the same run.
Far symp swirl > ripstein
Ripped warrior x2
Phoenix > Fog > phoenix > misstep
15 contact guiltless runs all day today, one had Gyro DLO > Toe whirl (i don't spin well)
Spinning whirl (Yes i really don't spin well)
6x DATW to begin a short run

Probably longest run I had was around 25-30 contacts.. I don't think I'm exaggerating but maybe. It didn't have anything special in it, although i'm getting okay at spinning legover to datw.

That's all folks.

Hey man, madd props on everything here. I remember seeing you shred at Funtastiks 2010 and from like one small string, I knew you were going to be a top shredder one day. Your form was/is excellent. Knowing that we were roughly the same age was very inspiring to me, as well.

It's a shame I haven't formally met you yet. I was pretty shy at Funtastiks. Ever since I hosted PA Jam, I feel a lot more at home in the footbag community. Hopefully we'll officially meet at an upcoming jam.

Keep it up dude. I've been reading for a while, just haven't posted in here til now.

Thanks nick, glad you see that because i'm trying to get there. I Feel like we had introduced eachother at funtastics but IDK. And you sure did open up to the community because I see you on here a lot! - and that is inspiring to me really. I fail to get on modified too much.

Played well today too.
Stepping reaper or whatever thats called.
Toe set Symp whirl > PDX Flail RPT
Ducking clipper > gyro mirage > Eggbeater Both sides (i suck at spinning so control here was good)
and Janiwalker > ripwalk both sides. Not perfect ripwalks at all but first time I stepped out of Jani so Woooot :P

Short update. I'm right at 2½ years of footbag. I haven't actually played but two times in about 25 days... however, it's mostly been because of the heat, and a girl. Played today and I feel like i'm actually a mid-level player now. Pdx drifters, pdx dlo's and pdx's whirls are finally making sense to me. My sense of control today was wonderfully good (in comparison to me 2 months ago or so). Need to learn flip spinning and a few other concepts, but I'm at the point where I wanted to be when I started. And now that I realize that, it feels gooooooddddd.. I mean, I'm not Vasek or very close to any bap member; the video's of me are only my best stuff. But the stuff I can hit now is the stuff I imagined hitting two years ago. I wonder how much I'll play once the weather cools down, it may be a shit load. Things ought to actually get interesting from now on. At least they ought to..
