So Cassy called me the day of the Weed March, and I was out of town.
I'm really sorry about that. I hope you weren't alone there... did anyone else go?

I've been off modified for so long... I stopped playing all winter to get angry at Halo:Reach instead. I drank way too much alcohol, didn't move from the sofa, and developed a way-too-high blood pressure level.

So, I have cut my alcohol intake by more than half.

Also, I am getting exercise... by playing footbag.

I play alone. I work concepts. I train.

Some part of me was completely jaded and fed up about everything footbag last year. I don't like saying it, but included the community, my progress, really everything. I don't know why, but I felt like all kinds of effort was going nowhere.

Anyway, I feel a little better now. I'm ready to start playing with people again, a little at a time. I started by having a footbag-light picnic with Erik yesterday. Of course on my first move I fell HARD on my knee, but surprisingly I feel almost no ill-effects today.

Next week it looks like I'm seeing Sam, who's also been away from the bag for an extended period. I'm hoping that it's mostly basics, drills, and chilling.

My run length and consistency is still terrible, despite my trick vocabulary being as good as it has ever been or better.

Anyway, here are some highlights from my latest renewed-concept self-revamping solo session today:

Barrage > Paradon > Spinning Butter bs
Shut Down bsos
Drifter > Ripwalk bsos
Ducking Clipper > Gyro Mirage rpt
Gyro Clipper > Stepping Clipper rpt

I'm still shedding my relatively negative attitude towards this sport, and hope to become less of a solely solo player sometime... we'll see.

I'll try to post again after playing with Sam.

And good post earlier, Josh. My attitude towards footbag got shitty too so I took a year off. Now I'm at peace with the fact that I'm a terrible player who will not progress any further. :) But I don't care. I just like kicking bean bags. I'm playing every day now for about 30-60 minutes. Trying to get into some kind of shape.

I'll be living downtown near the end of August in a house in Danforrth. I'll be done school for the summer and plan to try playing again (lightly). I look forward to it. Also, FAT, remember the First Annual Worldwide Play Footbag Day on Sunday, Sept 4! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=184393594954381

I've got hardcore school until I move, though. 2 huge essays to write this weekend and finals coming up >____<

Hello Fatties.

Now thats its been a couple weeks since my return from the great northern lands, footbag is back in full swing. There is definitely some rust on my blades, but it is falling away quickly, especially since I have been shredding 4 times a week or more since my return. :D This is just a general shoutout to whomever happens to ready this....I want to shred with YOU! I will travel, and am super unemployed so I have unlimited availability. No excuses. ;) I would love to see all the old fatties, considering its been a while since the club was in full swing.

On another note, there is a jam happening in London Ontario on August 26-28 and everyone should come! It doesn't really matter if you've been playing much recently, we really need to get our Southern Ontario posse back in action.

Highlights

Tomahawk>spinning whirl Bs

That is all. I still drilling simple stuff and working my staples. Have got some parts of my game mostly all the way back to where they were, but a few parts need work. Specifically, my double downs are much slower than they were. They are getting better by the session, but they definitely feel sluggish. Also, my balance is a little off. I guess thats just a product of working different muscles all summer.

Well thats all for now.

Bye.

I'm probably not gonna make the jam. But I have an excess 5 lbs of steel shot I'll probably never use, if anyone (particularly stitchers) are interested. For free, of course. Or if anyone wants to bring it down to London -- I know Johnny and Zach both stitch (or used to). Or feel free to divide it up amongst FATties for bag refills and whatnot. I still have another 5, and I'm not stitching, or playing for the foreseeable future.

I am booked to be up north camping this weekend, although I am very sad that I won't get to see everyone.
Have fun, and shred hard.

Greenwood: I'm sorry that I haven't responded to your text. Yes, that is still my number. I hope to have some more free time in the next few weeks. I'll hit you up.

Adam and I had a productive 1st Annual Worldwide Play Footbag Day.

We jammed at Dundas Square.
I had played three times since putting out my back again in March, and it was mostly consecutive kicking with some BOPs, so that's all I was planning to lay down today. I brought my camcorder to film an Adam special when I was done after 20-ish minutes -- that didn't happen.

As it turns out, in front of a huge crowd proves difficult to play sucky, and I ended up playing pretty well and way too hard for my fucked up back. I'm doubling my yoga routine for today in hopes to prevent the inevitable pain that will start tomorrow and maybe last all week. Adam was out of shape too with a pulled hip flexor, or something, especially after the London jam (which I'm thankful for not attending, as I would have played too hard for a number of days and undoubtedly wrecked my back much worse.)

Some highlights I remember:
Adam:
-flurry > paradon > barfly > flurry > paradon
-bedwetter > pixie whirl [repeat]?
-almost alpine fog -- looked super easy
-scorpion's tail BSOS
-pixie paradon, blurriest, and some other big stuff BSOS in a run
-paradon swirl BSOS

Erik:
-gyro DLO, stepping whip, spinning whip, all BSOS
-mobius and stepping whip both BSOS

It feels like I did more than that -- maybe just more runs with the same tricks. But it was huge, considering I was expecting to do nothing harder than a reverse swirl or ripwalk. Like I said, hard to ignore a constant crowd. I will be paying for this tomorrow (and beyond). Too bad more people didn't show -- I didn't know I live so close to Adam, too, though -- we didn't even have to go way out there :P

Hello!

How are all you lovely footbag people?

Been playing a lot recently.....going back over some basics, making sure everything is tight.

Anyone want to shred it up soon? This weekend is supposed to be B-E-A-utiful!

One little highlight.

All four atomic whirls in one run. Felt sweet.

And one more.....

Flip Whirr (finally)

Miss you FATTIES.

What's up fizzed?

Everyone doing well out there in footbag land?

Finally improving again after the usual summer hiatus. Had a session after a hard work day, and my runs were a bit sluggish, but my shorter combos an drills were ON!

Bsos Vertigo

Rubberman>Blur>Smear>Pixie Whirl>Rpt>6-7 more contacts genuine

Blurry Whirl>Stepping Whirl>Rpt>Run with all four pixie whirls

Blurry Whirl>Spinning Whirl>Rpt

Flurry>Pixie Paradon Bsos

It would be nice to play with some other peeps sometime soon.....who is down? Lets make it happen.

So haven't posted in a bit, just wanted to say whats up. :)

Have been playing lots, just not this week. I started a new job, and for the first week they have me working 10 hour days with a longish commute, so there is no decent way to get a session in. Thats fine though, next week I'll be right back at it. :D

Been wishing for some local people to shred with. Sam is around sometimes, but no one in T.O is into meeting up on at least a weekly basis. Im sure my learning curve would be much steeper with someone at my level around to push me. Anyone want to move to Toronto? :P

I kinda relearned Ps Whirl last week. That was fun...and no corresponding knee pain! Yay! Also I somehow learned how to do my flip paradox torque with little practice....just kinda clicked one day. Strange but welcome.

Lastly, I'm totally getting a gym membership for the winter. I need a guarentee of a place to play, or I'll lose my mind.

Thats all.

Greenwood, over and out.

I'm down to play. I have free membership at U of T gyms. I've never been though, 'cause of back pain, and non-stop school work. I'm down to play some time, but I can't handle long or regular sessions.
