B man,
Glad to see a post from you but sorry to see why. I feel for you man. I got mono before , was misdiagnosed multiple times and spent over a week in the hospital so I feel for you man.
I know it's hard to accept but you won't have to start completely over from bodybuilding . You'll probably find that results might actually come quicker when and if u start up again. Take the time to rest for now...you'll be happy to did.
As far as being discouraged...I ve been around music my entire life and when I starting playing footbag Left my personal music to the side even though I was still making a living playing music. Recently I have not played as much footbag but have enjoyed music for the first time in years and have decided to push my skills more than ever, while still enjoying the occasional footbag session.
Cycles of life are sometimes mysterious ad don't reveal right away what will be next . It will present itself to you . Maybe this is a time to focus on relationships, on finance, on family, on travel, on work, on reading, on footbag, on anything that u choose. Take a short break from being stressed over this and set a goal just as u did with bodybuilding ...the goal could be short term or long term , there could be mutiple goals ..and just work towards them .

Looking forward to see what u come up with and if you decide to get back into footbag please film :)

Peace

Good to see you post again Byrin!

Coming back to footbag could work, if it interests you. And yeah, sometimes working on strengthening muscles around the knees/hips can solve injury issues brought about by footbag. You could also look to come back with a style that avoids symposium and reduces shuffle, which is something that has helped me prolong my time in footbag.

I'm sorry to hear about the health issues, and I agree with most of what Mark said about cycles of interest in life. I guess I mostly just wanted to chime in and encourage your return to footbag, and throw in my 2 cents about strengthening other muscles and also changing your style as your body demands.

Hope life is good in general, and hope to see you shredding sometime soon.

It's great to see you post, Byrin.
I think Mark said it really well.
I hope your figure things out for yourself and enjoy life!

Thanks for the kind words Mark. You are definitely right - life works in mysterious ways, and sometimes opportunities are not always presented right away.

I've been feeling pretty good this week. I'm still not pushing myself with the weights, but I was able to add more poundages to the barbell without feeling like I've ran a marathon afterwards.

Yesterday I pulled out the quantums and footbags, then unintentionally stayed up late watching old footbag videos. Today I fixed the huge tear in the sole of one quantum with super-glue, and my footbags are drying from their wash in the washing machine. I will patch them up tonight, then tomorrow we will see just how my body feels about footbag.

I wouldn't be honest if I said I wasn't excited :).

Anyone else dying to know the outcome here?

Seriously - I just discovered videos of you shredding within this past year, and think you have awesome style. Of course, I quickly found out you were out of the scene (sad face).

Now there's the chance you're gonna pick it up again ... you tease us with that last post ... and now ... WHAT?

I've never been at your level, but I have taken several long hiatuses from footbag (when life has basically sucked away all my time), and recently started trying to get back into it more regularly again. So I'm curious to see how you feel after kicking.

Think you're going to stick with it? Just do it more casually now? Strive to be better than before?

Anyway, I hope you did kick some and I hope you enjoyed it. Best of luck with whatever you decide to do moving forward!

Haha, sorry for the anticipation :P . I kicked twice that week, but at the time it was too much for me. I haven't kicked since, unfortunately, but I have put on most of the weight I lost when I was sick. My goal now is to start getting my numbers up to what they were before, but I'm in no rush to do so.

I would definitely love to get back into footbag. A lot of people at school were blown away when I did kick, and I was offered a chance to talk to an instructor to have it incorporated into a dance class. As beneficial as that would be for footbag, I don't see it happening as the learning curve is just too slow for a lot of people.
