Why thank ya moose

just finished a belgian pale ale.
8.75 lbs pilsen malt
.66 lbs acidulated malt
.66 lbs melanoidin malt
.66 lbs rolled oats

just kind of threw in some hops i had left over. still have a couple ounces of mt hood and n. brewer hops.
~.5 oz saaz for first wort hops
~.5 oz mt hood hops for 60 minute boil
~1 oz some random hops I was given from a university farm for last 3 minutes
~1.75 oz saaz right when i turned off the boil

pitched belgian ardennes yeast. should turn out hoppy without overpowering the malt, and with hints of clove, slight sour funk, and spices.

I'd really like to taste some of your beers. Maybe next time I'm up in Montana.

Today I tried/hit a couple of the challenges you texted me. The first vid may have two of them...and then I thought it was possible that I misinterpreted your move description, so the second video has a different interpretation of what you may have requested. Either way, they were fun challenges that I wouldn't have thought up myself:

You are more than welcome to Ken!

It was misinterpreted both ways. I was referring to toe>backspin>pickup. inspin and ingyro pickups were awesome and unexpected

I can't film cuz my parents basement flooded and that's where I kept most of my belongings, but here's some reposted old stuff. my first 6>6 (maelstrom>pstorque), and mid/downtime miraging opp symp torque. I can't shred like I used to but I've footed the spinning paradox version of the last trick many times which is the kenny schultz crazy trick?

here's ken somolinos hitting what I came up with as the "ultimate downtime drill"

and here's my favorite video session which I've posted several times already including my first time trying blurry flux which happened to be midstring

and here's my first quad from back in the day

and here ends my biggest trick at the end of the video which was pulled completely out of my ass

I brought a fictional beer into existence yesterday :P

There's a beer in Stephen King's Dark Tower Series that the Gunslinger drinks called graff. He describes it as a malty apple cider. So I decided to make it. I brewed up a gallon of wort with crystal malt, smoked malt, and malted wheat, added an ounce of northern brewer hops at the beginning of a 60 minute boil, let it cool to about 70 degrees F, and put it on top of 4 gallons of preservative-free non-pasteurized apple cider in a fermenter (additive free and non-pasteurized so that the yeast isn't inhibited). Pitched some American Ale Yeast, and it's vigorously fermenting away right now.

No one really knows what i'm talking about when I post my beer recipes, but it's a way to keep track of what I've done

made what's going to be a bourbon barrel porter with chocolate, chiles, and cinnamon

9.5 lbs marris otter malt
1 lb malted wheat
1 lb. Chocolate Malt
0.5 lbs. Black Malt
0.5 lbs. Crystal 120 malt

1 oz. Chinook (60 min boil)
0.5 oz. US Goldings (15 min boil)
0.5 oz. US Goldings (5 min boil)
4-5 oz ghirardelli unsweetened bakers chocolate (5 min boil)
20 super chiles - seeded (5 min boil)
1.25 tsp cinnamon (5 min boil)
Scottish ale yeast

going to add 16 oz of bourbon with 2 oz of medium toasted oak chips after primary fermentation is done

I understand brother. that's a lot of Chiles. I hope it doesn't over power the beer. I used jalapnos in a smoked hefe once and it was a very strong flavor i waited a few months for it to mellow. I added mine in the secondary i wonder how boiling will change it.

It should be very subtle since they were only in the boil for the last 5 minutes, as opposed to soaking them in your wort for 2 whole weeks during secondary fermentation.

A jalapeno smoked hefe sounds awesome. What were your ratios? something like 40% smoked malt, 10% pils malt, 50% wheat malt?

I did 50 50 smoke and wheat, i took 1 gallon and put it in a growler with half a jalapeno. the beer was much better without the pepper but it was a fun experiment. I need to get back into brewing i haven't done it since April. Maybe this Sunday.

brewing is where it's at.

Halloween is coming up. We're doing a couples costume. My girlfriend is going to be a positive pregnancy test, and I'm going to be a hanger with a bloody fetus head on the top of it

Got dumped. We still live together and may finish the lease out. It sucks. But on the up-side, i can do lots of winter camping/hiking/snowshoeing now.

Turned 27 on Saturday

Haven't played footbag in over a month.

Made a killer chicken marinade.

Things have been rough. I watched my mother take her last breath while waiting for the ambulance to come last night

This morning while I was sleeping, my car was hit by a drunk driver and totaled.

Things have got to get better, right?

Well, the funeral was on monday. The only black shoes I have are my lavers so I wore those.

Had a session with Jeremiah 2 nights ago. Was slow to warm up but had some long strings. hit some new tricks. the only one I can remember is clip far non-symple swirl. some other things with bigger tricks were flip spanishfly first try, blurrier>spin clip which i didn't think I'd be able to do. tomahawk>step duck clip>string. tried scorps>fog a few times and couldn't hit it so I tried scorps>backside fog for shits and giggles and pretty much went completely sideways in mid-air lol! Also kept trying backside ripped warrior because I've never seen anyone do that intentionally. It's a lot harder than it seems.

Had a solo session yesterday morning to get some cardio and core exercise. Drilled spins and gyros for the core strengthening and now it hurts the abs to sneeze and I can feel every movement in my back muscles. not pain, just the good kind of soreness.

Have 3 batches of brew ready to bottle totalling 15 gallons/145 bottles
