16th day. Nice session. Everyone around say that Spinning after PS Whirl is natural. Well it isn't for me. And today I finally started to understand how I should do it. I hit PS Whirl > Spinning Clipper a few times and PS Whirl > Spin Pdx Whirl.

I really like to do a very easy run, just with BOP's and easier tricks like Spinning and Ducking Clippers, some Ripwalks and stuff like that, and try to go as long as I can. When I feel that I'm flowing with the bag, I'm relaxed, and everything seems natural I feel great. That feeling is one of the coolest things in footbag for me.

My flip Spinning needs some work. Blenders are coming along, but I need to practice Pdx Blenders more. I hit E-Walk (Frantic Butterfly?) again. I tried Splicing set just for fun and cleared it a few times, and footed Voodoo.

Maybe I should take a day off...
Nah :)

Had a pretty funny session. For the first hour I just watched Dexter stitching my new bag, and after that I shredded without much warm up. To my surprise I still managed to hit some decent combos:

Blurry Whirl > PS Whirl > Spinning Pdx Whirl to run with other Blurry Whirl, Blurriest and Scorpion's Tail
Phoenix > Blurry Drifter to run with Blurry Whirl > Blurry Whirl
E-Walk to run

Frantic rules, but it's really hard!

18th day. Very good sesh! I had lots of energy and my links felt confident. Two new fearless combos:

Phoenix > Blurry Drifter > Blurry Whirl > Blurry Whirl
Janiwalker > Sumo > Phoenix > Blurry Whirl > Blurry Whirl > PS Whirl :!:

I was so happy when I hit the second one, mostly because it was, like on 4th try or something like that :D :D :D I used to do Nuclear set in the past, but I forgot about them. It looks like I didn't forget how to do them - I was even close to 69 :) Hitting Sumo out of Janiwalker felt really nice.

Thx Jajo :D Your Sick3 combos are cool too!

19th day! Pretty good session, but my game was a bit shaky. Hit some new link, like Blur > Whirl > Barrage. I tried to play some toe tricks, and got some new links with them too:
Pixie ss Mirage > DSO
Smear > Quantum Legover > Magellan > Pixie Legover > Toe Blur

I'm not really good at toe shuffle, so it's something I can work on! I also drilled Gyro Clips, and got about 8 I think.

It's hard to have good variety in runs. Or maybe it's hard to have big variety, and long strings at the same time. Lots of concepts mean higher chance of dropping.

The ultimate goal for me would be: to stop thinking about my progress, and loose the desire to be good. Just shred. If only it would be easy :)

20th day! Yeah! :D Call me Iron Man  We played in our park today. I don't think I hit something new today, I did a really high Barraging set - I think I could have ducked it 8O . I also came close to Tsunami (Janiwalker Swirl).

I tried some tricks with the Pogo set, and a variation of Pixie where you switch legs after the dex, so only one leg is on the ground at the same time. I hit Pogo Butterfly > Pogo Pdx Mirage > Switching Smear. It felt funny :D

I think I did my longest dexless string today. It went:

Ducking Clipper > Diving Clipper (rpt) > Ducking Clipper > Spinning Clipper (rpt) > Ducking Clipper > Spinning Clipper > Gyro Clipper > Spinning Clipper

Missed the last Gyro Clip :) I also remember a good shuffle run which went for about 20 contacts and had Blurry Whirl > Blurry Whirl > Ripwalk > something in it.

Sebastien Duchesne (sorry if I misspeled) and Dylan Fry are coming tommorow! It's so great! I can't wait till I meet them.

We played with Sebastien Duchesne today! Well, actually only 4Square, but it still was fun as never :D He is an awesome player, in the begginning I didn't even know what happened (beside the fact that I was out :P ). We played for about 2 hours ? or something like that. Before Sebastien arrived we did some shredding, I hit one new combo, which I think is pretty cool:

Dimwalk > Pdx Whirl > Drifter > Barrage > Paradon > Barfly

Tommorow we're going to shred! I can't wait! :D It is going to be awesome :D

So I just came home from an awesome shred with Sebastien and Dylan Fry! It was one of the best session in my entire career :D Dylan has such an awesome style, really relaxed, but still full of hard tricks and links. Mobius and Pdx Torque are bread and butter for this guy, he BSOS them like nothing :D I was really impressed by his Spinning Ducking/Diving runs, when he would play with them for many contacts. He's also pretty big fella, for a moment I was thinking that he'll hit the ceiling with his head
Sebastien has a really awesome, precise style too - he can throw Eggbeateres, Pigbeaters, Fogs and other triple dexes really easily. I love the way he spins - very controlled and full. He hit Pixie Spinning Mirage first try 8O

This was the first time I had a real session with people from other countries, and players with such great experience. It was really cool! And to think that I'm going to shred with them tommorow, and during the workshops :D Me = happy :D

Hey Ted, it's good to hear that not only I take benefits from writing here :D So, time to do a little update on what have been happening lately. The Footbag Workshops connected with the European Union Youth Exchange Program started two days ago. It's really awesome, here's a short relation:

DAY 1

This day was really one of the craziest day in my life. In the morning, when I was sitting in my room, suddenly I got a phone call from some guy, and he says something like "I'm from TVN24 television, we heard that you are playing footbag, we want to come to your house now and make a material with you."

8O

I knew that I have to pick up Ian Pritchard from the Airport, but the guy said it won't take long so I agreed. They arrived soon in their car and took out a big camera as I was greeting them. They filmed my room, where I have some footbag posters, and then interviewed me. After that, we went outside and they filmed some shred - it was a bit funny, beacause I started with some kicks to get a bit warmed up, and after few of them, one of the guys said "Well, it looks quite easy". Then I proceed to shred and they were like "All right... Maybe not as easy as we thought" . After all the TV stuff ended I run to the Town Center to catch a bus to the Airport. I managed to get there on time, just before Ian's plane arrived. It was really cool to see him again! :) We went to eat some Knysza (something like Kebab) and then to the school where the exchange was happening. Some people were already there (the Austrian crew), and after maybe half an hour guys from Szczecin and Słupsk arrived. We did some shredding and after that went to eat something. After the Dinner/Supper there was a meeting where we got to know what is the exchange all about. After this, and some shredding I went with Ian and Dylan back to the school, left them there, and came back home.

DAY 2

It all started very early. On 8:45 I was in that school - everyone was still waking up. When they finished we went to breakfast, and pretty much right after it the Freestyle Workshops started. Dexter and Honza got a projector running, and when I saw the title "The Book of Cool" on the wall I knew it's going to be awesome :D They showed us the video of Vasek doing some really cool stuff, the slowmos were crystal clear and it all looked very professional. Then they proceed to different sections of the vid like Basic Kicks, Delays, Dexterities, Sets and stuff. After each section they were commenting it, getting people from the audience to try stuff, correct their mistakes and stuff. Honza was a very good way of explaining things :D He hit some really nice runs, Alpine Food Processor (like a staple move for him  ), Triple ATW first try! (He was pretty stoked after that, maybe even more then the audience :D ) and other cool stuff. After they finished, answered some questions the Freestyle Workshops ended. Then we went straight to shred, inspired by the video and Honza, and played for about an hour. Then there were Yoga Workshops, made by Caro Bourgoin - it was pretty fun, but hard at the same time. Some of the postures were a bit hard to stay relaxed doing them  We did it on grass, and I didn't have anything to lie on, so the ants were all over me :D After Yoga, we shredded some more, and then we went to the Dinner/Supper. Right after it, we did some more shredding  and then watched a show of "Dancing Lights" - it was pretty fun in the beggining, but then it got a bit boring. When the show ended we went to the city, to do a little sightseeing, and then we entered an area with lots of clubs, and stayed there :D It was pretty fun, but I had to go, so after drinking a beer and some talk, I said my goodbyes and went home.

Maybe I would write more, but I have to go to the workshops! :D Damn, I think I'm going to be late.

So... The European Footbag Championships 2005 are over now :) I'm really tired but extremely happy at the same time. We partied until about 4 in the morning yesterday and it was great fun. I'm so stoked that I met all this cool people like Ian, Sebastien, Dylan, Caro, Matt, Mosher and all the other guys that I had great time hanging out with. The workshops was a big success I think, the Switzerland crew rocks (props for the Doubles again to Reni and his twin brother  ). Thanks for Sebastien for teaching me some nice 4Square tricks (Dylan was inspiring as well :) ), Steve for his Goldberging, Ian for Enterrage :!: (I'm still impressed :) ) and just talking about stuff... Pretty much thanks to everybody that were so cool and arrived here in Wroclaw for Euros!

The shred was really off the hook - Vasek didn't play so much, but when he did, it was crazy. Honza is really getting closer to him in technical ability - some of his links were hard to follow :) . Same goes to Felix, who could throw some hard stuff even in his finals routine. Some other great shredders - Karim Daouk, Yves Kreil (amazing links), Max Kerkhoff - it was really amazing to play with you!

I think Poland represented well - we had 3 finalists in Open and Shred30, and took first 3 places in Intermediate too :) I'm very happy about it. I didn't really expect my routine and Shred30 to go so well, so that's another good thing :)

The level of routines was really high, the finals show was incredible - there were some discussion on if the places were given correctly, but I think the decisions were good. Props for Jakob Wagner for 1st place in Golf :D And big thanks for the shorts - they're really cool :D

I will probably make it to Worlds. This is going to be the best summer holidays of my life!

Footbag :!: :D

4TH PLACE!!!

Yes, BIG props and congratulations, Szymon! Very very cool, and you
deserved it- I'm so curious to see the final routines of everybody!

How many drops did you have, and did you actually hit the last move
of the routine this time??

If I remember good, Ners had only one drop in finals at Symposium Whirl. And he has hit Phoenix at the end, because he didn't want to have more drops. Am I right, mister There-Are-Only-Three-Persons-Better-Than-Me-In-Europe Kałwak? :D

Thanks guys, I was lucky and only did one drop in Finals, so I'm really happy. You're right Cod, I wanted to end my routine with Janiwalker, and it even worked in the first round, but in the second the curse returned  so I didn't want to risk and replaced it with Phoenix. Maybe it's even a better routine trick, like.. bigger or something :D

I'M GOING TO WORLDS TOMMOROW :!:

Thats so fucking amazing! I already have my ticket, tommorow we are going by train to Warsaw, then by another bus to Talinn and then my ferry to Helsinki. I'm so stoked about it!

I didn't shred today, so the playing streak is broken at 35 days! I think that's a good score  :P See you all after Worlds modified!

Pozdrawiam

Worlds rocked :D I had so much fun and shredded with so many awesome people :) It was really nice to meet them all and talk to them in person. I didn't do so well, my routine had 4 drops and I didn't advance to semifinals. I sucked at Shred30 and Sick3 as well  I saw some amazing tricks performed by guys such as Felix, Vasek, Karim or Jorden. I was also very happy for Hania, who was 3rd, Ostrowski brothers who got silver in Doubles and Wiktor and Gosia, who represented in Open (first polish dropless routine!) and Mixed Doubles (3rd place).

Can't wait for Worlds next year
