lo blog.

I made the new video as I promised (even earlier than I said!). That covers pretty much all the new stuff I've hit recently. New links:
Double Fairy > Enterrage
Ripstein > Double Blender (I'm actually proud of this Embarassed)
Mobius > Spender
Spanishfly > Janiwalker (anybody hit this before?)
Surging Whirl > Food Processor (This is a neat reverse-combo!)
Scorpion's Tail > Mantis
There's also clean Nemesis in the video from a good angle, which I haven't seen from myself before. Oh yeah and I like the Dada Curve I start the first run with. Dada Curves are great when done correctly, I need to start using them more.
As I declared in the actual thread, I'll by a beer at Worlds for anyone who can tell where's the picture from, that's on my t-shirt in the video.

So I dumbed my old Quantum01's. They almost exploded at my feet during the goodbye-session. I wasn't really satisfied how they wore out so fast. I encoutered problems with them first time in the summer after playing with them for like 4 months... I really think that shoes which are ment for footbag should take shredding better.

I played in Quanum02's first time today. I've been runnin in them for a couple of times to break them in. Still they felt a little "slippery" today and the bag was rolling. I have a feeling that they're going to be better than their first version, but I've only heard bad things about their durability...

Jam in Helsinki next week! Can't wait.
Give us a better picture! I want a free beer!

I thought it was the bumblebee panda from Threadless, but I couldn't find a picture of it.

edit: I think I was thinking of this:

That's Newgrounds tank with tankmen ontop :) I'm a newgrounds fan since like 2003, maybe I'll get one of those as well. It's good to hear that you're shredding it up Anz.

Yeah Ners won. I think I made it too easy with that close up picture...

Anyway, today I had my last programmed session. Altogether thirty programmed sessions with just two free session in the middle. I already see positive results. Today I hit Rubberman x2,5 with first try and right after that Rubberman x3, which is my PR. Also what is new, Triage > ss Butterfly > rpt, Atomsmasher x14 and Blubberman x2 during the last few days.

Quantum02 are starting to feel OK. My game is already pretty comfortable in them, but still they're not 100% broken in and some components still feel icky.

I'm going to have a break now for a few days, before the jam in Helsinki. After that I'm going to try to hit some new consecutive trick world records on camera.
And after that... I don't know. Maybe another program? I don't have imagination anymore...

Statement of the day: Go to tournies!

G'day.

The jam at Helsinki was nice, although I played my worse game ever. It was good seeing all the players. I bet Aleksi is going to be in the shred30 finals next Worlds.

We played in the sport hall yesterday with Antti. My game sucked again, but I hit both Arch Nemesii (not first time) which he confirmed clean. Antti had a couple longer runs and PS Whirl on foot, once again.

I feel like I need a long break from footbag, because I've been playing so bad lately.
Except today - I had a challenge hunting solo session. I beesauced Nemesis for the first time and hit thirty contacts of Blur>Dimwalk, for example. Read my challenge thread for more (and while you're there, challenge me!).

I'm going to play on Sunday and then have a break untill next year.
So, merry christmas.

Statement of the day: Short hair makes better shred appearance.

Happy New Year, fellow footbaggers.

I've had a pleasant footbag break over christmas time. Since it's new year, writing up some plans and new years resolutions about footbag are in order.

First about last year, although there's not much to say. Most of the first nine months of 2007 were happily spent in the military, but towards the end of the year I shredded my rust off and I'd say I'm now at least on the same level than before the army.
One reason of the quick recovery is the training program that I developed and did. It took about two months and was really worth it.
In November I started the training program research, which is really looking promising.

Then about 2008.
Analysing and publising results from the research is a big priority, that should happen during the first half of the year. I'm really excited about it, the only setback so far has been one I couldn't anticipate - many players are taking much longer to finish the program than I thought. It's actually making be quite upset, since I can't fully trust the results from a delayed program, but everyone's doing it from their own will, so I can't really complain. I just hope it doesn't ruin the program.
Another important project for the first half of the year is organising and carry out a footbag course in Finland in the means of recruiting new players. I spoke about it with Jere Linnanen, who was involved doing a course in Helsinki a couple years ago. This time we plan to do it in Helsinki and Turku the same time.
Then there's Worlds. I'm SO going.
I don't have much plans for the second half of the year. Lots of shredding of course. I should start studying something next autumn, at least I hope so, but I will see that it doesn't disturb footbag. I'd like to make another footbag trip than just Worlds this year.
For more detailed plans, I of course want to get better shredwise. To give out some numbers and details, here's something I want to hit before this years end: twelve unique fearless, four beastly, three different paradox-free beastly links and a godly link.
One general message I want to bring out more strongly that I have before: Genuine level shred. I want to encourage the pros to sometimes rise the bar and leave BOPs out. Having a Genuine level circle at Worlds with all the top players would be historical.
I'll be making videos just like I used to. It keeps me motivated. I just want a new editing software desperately, I've had enough of WMM already.
On the last note of the years plans, I want to avoid injuries. My knees have acted quite well for the last few months after the military and I want to keep it that way.
Also my new years resolution is to stretch properly.

I'm eager to find out how this year ends up, and I wish everyone a good footbag year!

First session of the year with Antti today!
He hit Ripwalk b2b both sides for the first time - and his first 4>4>4! See video here:

This year seems to be a good shred year?

We had a short session in Anz´s shed today. Anssi hit 32 terrages and that was pretty much it. (New WR?) Next sesh hopefully on Tuesday.

I haven´t played that much in last few months. I moved on my first rental aparment at the end of September and don´t really have extra money to go regularly at the sporthall(fucking snow). In addition my dishwasher job ended so I´m now looking for a evening/weekend job that I could do while studying.

Anz posted earlier some milestones and things that he would like to hit this year so I thought I´d do the same. In no particular order I´d like to:
-Hit 30 Tiltless
-15 Guiltless
-6 unique genuine
-4 unique tripless
-Hit my first 6
-Start playing guiltless

I´m satisfied if I can achieve at least half of those milestones.

We played yesterday at the sport hall. Sometimes it's quite hard to concentrate on footbag there, because there's a lot of goodlooking girls doing gymnastics and stuff at the same time... Antti hit Torque for the first time (about time!) and flipside Drifter. I hit some new links and right at the end of the session Grifter x9 with first try, which is an official WR, although I'm sure Vasek hits more. I will try if I can get more than ten for camera next week.
Antti had sewed one new 12 panel bag and fixed half a dozen old ones, so we had plenty of footbags to choose from, which was awesome, 'cause all the old ones are choice bags now.

We both have been playing with Quantum02 for a while now, and I must say that we haven't encountered any of those problems that so many other seem to have, most usual being the cracking of sole.
We both are happy with the performance of the shoe too. My game feels so much lighter with them, especially all the symposium moves. I haven't had practically any problems with my knees with Quantums. They're good.

Statement of the day: Changing the filler does amazing things to a bad footbag.

I had a better than overall 2 hour sesh today. Trained lots of drifters and torques to really get them down. Thanks to this, I also hit flips torque. It´s actually funny, how even a tinyest change to technique can make you hit new moves. :D

Also hit some new records and a one drill:
-28 opp clips
-10 osis(still have to work those)
-ripwalk>ss butterfly>rpt. I had that one on challenges starting with a ss butterfly. Well I hit it next time the other way. ;)

And a few things that Anssi didn´t remember to mention about my view of Quantum2s: I think the shoe pretty much rocks even though I´m not used to it´s toes yet. I´ve had a small tear on my right shoes toe after second session with them. Luckily it hasn´t grown any bigger I think. I don´t know If I should stitch it or just let it be, being afraid that stitching could make it worse or ruin the toe area. For what I´ve read of, other players are also getting holes pretty quickly in their shoes, therefore my suggestion for quantum3s would be to try to make the shoes more durable.

I´m also dreaming of going to international exchange either on next fall or spring semester, Canada and Ireland being the top candidates. Canada mostly because of footbag(I don´t think there´s that many players in Ireland?). On the contrary I would get better financial support if I went to Ireland. And in Irish university, they would be teaching the same degree that I´m studying(bachelor of biotechnology). The application period starts on the beginning of february so I still have some time to make up my mind.

Props goes to Virppa for all the new stuff! Torque is cool, it's my favorite concept at the moment.

Since you are making bags, maybe you could stitch me a new bag?
The last one you made for me is over two years old, so it's time to get a new one.

My statement of the day: wearing long socks make your game look better.

Keep shreddin'.

Sure Aleksi. Do you want 12 or 32 panel? I hit all the new stuff with a brand new 12p so I wouldn´t underrate them. ;)

Yeah props, Antti!
I really recommend you to aim for the 30 tiltless. Trust me, skooling tiltless improves your guiltless string length too.

Btw, I'd also be interested in a new 32. At the moment the only good shred bag I've got is a 1½-year-old Footfighter. The previous Virppabag I had was a true choice! So, if you've got time and energy, could you make one for me too? :)

Sure, a 12 panel would be nice. As for the colors, something bright could cheer up my game during these long winter days. Yellow or orange or something. But if you have a good bag ready I can take that too. Thanks!

This is my first time checking out this blog but so far it's been a good read. Props on that 4-4-4 Virppa, eh I mean Antti! And once again, thanks for taking the time to post on mine! I'm about to mod my lavers before work haha.

Anssi, these are the first videos I've seen of you other than from your instructional videos and I think you look better with the short hair. And it's hard to say that because I'm usually like "Don't cut your hair!" since I've been growing out my hair for almost thee years now hahaha.

Take care guys!
