is a clipper rail kinda like cheating? or is it standard.. i really need help with my clipper... i think it would help a lot.. is it dishonorable to build one of these?

thats a good question.
on shoes that arent lavers its pretty widely accepted. for instance i play in climacools and some people can shred them just fine stock, but there is a hole at the sole of the inside and i would lose a lot of my clippers if i didnt have a rail, and ive never heard of anyone getting shit over a clipper rail on climas or new balances, or anything other than lavers really. for instance nate lindscott uses a clipper rail in his new balances.
i have however heard people getting shit about clipper rails on lavers. they really shouldnt be necessary anyway. the lack of clipper rail isnt your problem, its most likely a combination of your crank (how far you can turn your ankle over,) and how much you bend your support knee.
as support knee-bend increases, so does crank.

Is it kind of like cheating? yes...but in some sense so is using a soft bag or shoes with flat surfaces. The question is; is having a clipper rail like using a baseball glove or is it like using cork in a bat? Or an even better question would be, is there rules for footbag gear???
As far as, will it help you perform clippers, the answer is NO. I can do infinities barefoot and I don't use clipper rails to help my ability to execute moves...infact it probably hinders my form. It does creat a larger area in wich I can safely stall the bag, at least thats what I tell myself...
You will get sh*t at one point for using a clipper rail, be it from freestylers or pedestrians...so be prepaired, and work your barefoot game so you can rub it in their ignorant faces

I would say that no amount of modding is cheating until an official shoe is created that is already modded fresh out the box.
I know Richie and Jason both use clipper rails. For Jason its the same reason as Paul, he shreds climas. For Richie its the New balance thing like Nate. I'd say that Richie's rails allow him to relax a bit more than normal while shredding minis. He kicks a lot with brand new bags and busts. They are a bit more rolly than his broken in bags, so I'd say his rails assist him in getting warmer faster before he switches over to a choice bag. The sets are always the same off the rail so if a catch is a little wide he can still snag it and perform out of it.
I see this as the greatest reason for them - to keep the bag off the ground longer so you can have more fun.
I liked Nates modds so much I am considering modding out my lavers to match his new balance. Nate uses a thinner material for his insides and toe box that allow him to feel and control the bag better, which is why he is also so good at barefoot.

Unless your shoes are magnetic where it's impossible to miss th bag...then it's not cheating
I just don't like the modded look on my shoes, so I shred in my New Balance RAW!

are you planning on making so no modding is necessary, i imagine? i think if so, and everyone started using it (ie, the closest thing to regulation), then i would totally get it and support it 100%.mosher wrote:How would you set the bag cleanly off your foot?Xain wrote:'JFootbagger wrote:Unless your shoes are magnetic where it's impossible to miss th bag...then it's not cheating![]()
