Steel City Shred Off: Pittsburgh, PA: June 24th-25th

Post by Caleb » 05 May 2006 17:25

This is a bit early to be announcing the event because we're still solidifying our venue and tying up the last few loose ends......but oh well!!!! The Steel City (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) will be hosting what we hope to be a large and in charge event in the heart of the city on June 24th and 25th. Myself, Jake Milofsky, and our distant partner John Mahood are viciously planning for the event so that it will be off the hook for our guests and competitors. I'd clear your schedules for this one!

More info will be coming soon on the webpage. Check it out for info on the venue and who is attending. Be sure to register!

Hope I'm not busy that weekend. I'll have to ask the boss first. Haha.

Updated mainpage. My first try with Adobe Illustrator. Any ideas to make the logo better, it'll most likely be for shirts and any other things we wanna slap it onto.

Well im out in Greensburg pa, so i should be able to make it. :D
I really like the logo but if printing that on the shirt it might be too big with the skyline and square background. I dislike screenprinted shirts so big that it makes the whole front stiff.

Personally, I usually like black shirts, but not with this. I think the green shirt would be dopalicious...*nods head*

Yeah, because we all know what the Steel City is.

And you spelled 'Pittsburgh' wrong.

Venue secured !

Thanks to Jake's hard work, we've scored a ballroom so we can shred it up indoors with no worries about weather. I will post pictures of the venue site once Caleb gets off his ass  . Jake has also scored a host hotel at the Holiday Inn Select ! A very nice accommodation. More details will come with that also, but what has been confirmed is Free Parking and a big discount from $150 to $105 a night. This discout though is only available until June 12th, so you will have to call in advance to reserve your rooms. The best part about the hotel is it will be in the middle of everything ! A walk away from places such as LuLu's Noodles and plenty of other resteraunts, the venue, Caleb's house, nighttime shred spot, Museum, shopping, dining, public transport, etc..

All this info will be updated at the top of the thread, the .org listing, and of course the main website, and at this time, I'm not sure what the phone # is for the hotel, Jake will get that for us pronto.

I think I'll be coming. Whee! Since we have to book a room by the 12th, maybe my parents will be forced into deciding earlier.

Awesome Nathan! It'll be sweet to have some State College shred up in this piece :D

Thanks for posting the update Hood,

Anyone looking for hotel info, click the link at the bottom of Hood's last post, that's got everything you need. And be sure to mention "Footbag Event" when you're making your reservation so you get the sweet discount!

This event's shaping up to be really cool. For anyone who's ever wanted to visit Pgh, this will be a great opportunity. We'll be right in the middle of everything!

Lookin' forward to shredding with yinz in the Steel City

Peace!
