I had such a good time at last year's NYFA tourney. I'm excited this will happen again this year.

Here are some suggestions, in no real order:

1. Maybe pick a cooler month to do the tourney in. Summer works well because people don't have school, but it can also be really hot out. Maybe early June or early September would be best? I definitely vote against anytime in winter.

2. I liked the idea of having competitors mail their routine songs in, but obviously we need more failsafes. Maybe have people email their music, but ask them to bring a CD as well.

3. I liked Central Park because it gave us a lot of space. I never felt like I had to worry about people walking through our circle or anything (though I guess meth lady kinda did during my routine). At the same time, I also felt like we were easier to ignore because we were off to the side. Did you feel more visible in Washington Sq. Park?

4. Prizes and trophies were dope.

5. Jorden's demos between events were a great way of keeping crowd interest high.

6. I liked that there was a variety of events. I think that also made it interesting to passersby, since at any given time they were likely to see competition of some sort.

7. Dick Shea's had advantages and disadvantages as a party location. On one hand people could play footbag, but on the other hand people were pretty much limited to footbag or drinking. Then again, it was probably cheaper to drink there than if we went to a bar. I think it might be cool to have the post party be somewhere where non-footbaggers could come have fun too.

8. Given that this will be the 3rd year, you may want to increase the media exposure. I'm sure you could get some local news team to cover it, and that could help recruit in the NYC area.

-I agree with ken on early June. I mean I don't really have a huge problem with the heat but June would be pretty sweet, just not earlier because school would interfere.

-I enjoyed central park, but I've never been to washington square so I don't know how that is.

-Union square shred was fun.

-I demand a copious amounts of Brian's crazy dip at every place we go.

Add momma Damato's cookies and/or cake as one of those requested items. Smile Watermelon is a maybe, of course.

I'm going to see if I can get some local club support from Hunter college, since it seems like people are actually serious in forming a hacky sack club there. I'll also see if I can get some local news support in on this tournament, from Hunter College or NY1 if possible.

I liked the trophies at both.

I liked the Dick Shea's at both (even if I spent only a second there the last time)

I liked the MC both times

I liked the parks (we should totally hit up a third, maybe union square? That would get us more exposure as well, by proximity to street traffic)

I liked the turnout both times.

I think it might be a good idea to start the competitions later in the day this time. I remember getting up real early for the first one, and competition starting super early for second one.

I did not like the crazy lady at the last one, though it was quite the suspense builder when she was ominously meandering behind Ken throughout his first drop-less routine.

Regarding when: Whenever. It was freezing for the first one and it was still a great time. I suppose as long as it's not dead of Winter it will be fine, and perhaps if it's indoors it would even be better.

I loved the last event I went to.

Sometime in the summer would be preferable for me, so June?

Would not be opposed to a new park scene but I feel the last one worked out pretty well. Lots of the people that were chilling on that beach became interested as they walked by, but perhaps we could get more exposure at a different park? I don't know.

Trophies were rad. Mad props to Bruce.

I feel the events were planned well, timing wasn't bad.

As Ian said, there wasn't much room at Dick Shea's afterwards, but not too many people were shredding. A little bit more space cold have been helpful, but it worked out well.

Matt Cross was a great MC.

Great job organizing a great event Barrett! I'll be at the next for sure!

if you make this tournament on one of the six days of the week an observant Jew can make it, than you will receive a lot of support from me.

A two day jam where the competition is on Sunday also works.

It has been VERY sad for me to not be able to invite people in my life who are SOOOOOO interested in what a footbag jam is.

We don't know if we will have time to run intermediate competition yet but you are for sure more then welcome to come to the event. Age is not a restriction. If you live close enough to the city maybe you would be interested in coming to kick with us at our weekly shreds. We usually kick on Saturday afternoons.

I had fun participating and have appreciated the sponsorship.

I have liked the location, both for shred, eating, and party / shred.

I have also admired Barrett's "getting stuff done" abilities.

Let it be known that some are pushing for more events, and we know that would mean needing too help the directors alot more than the last two. Hopefully it will all work out and there will be plenty of time for all events and catagories.

More updates for the event.

Met with lady from the parks department last weekend.

June 28th is the date. That weekend Washington Square is supposed to be between renovations so the whole park with be open and available for our use.

We will have the same location in the park as we had for the first one and we will be able rope it off for competition.

We are looking into having net set up for a demo. No word as of yet if this is possible.

We will be contacting our amazing sponsors over the next week and ill keep you updated who has confirmed.

Please start telling people and get excited its going to be a blast.

best,
B

aawwww snap!!

June 28th is a Sunday, is that the day events would be held, or on Saturday or both? I will have class Monday, but I'll make it to this event either way!

Sorry to disappoint those who were looking forward to my dip / moms cookies, but it looks like I will be moving out of NYC before June as long as I find someone to take my spot in the apt. I was laid off last month and I can't find dick for a job at this point and my place is too expensive. I was really looking forward to hosting but it looks like it probably wont happen at this point.

=(
