Hey Daniel - apologies for not really being in touch - entirely my fault, I've been flat out for a while now. I just had a look back at your last few posts and sounds like you're slowly but surely settling in and have some good ideas keeping you busy. I like the South America Freestyle idea - sounds...

After a statement like that I don't see why I should upload more vids at all..... I think you may be misinterpreting my statement - the fact that I haven't felt compelled to post isn't to say your videos or the many other discussion I haven't involved myself in and may or may not have even seen are...

That headcam footage was really interesting - probably best in small doses - but what I found interesting was that the only person out of that group that I've kicked with is Ken - perhaps it was the sixer's jersey but I feel like it's more than that - but as soon as it cut to Ken I recognised it as ...

A couple of things - I haven't seen much on these forums that I've found interesting enough to post about, so I guess that's something. Characterising the forum as communist due to the minimal amount of editing is a little over the top - but then based on the video such a response is to be expected....

I'm a sucker for names with x in them leave alone x-z combos so Feilx Zenger for me but to fly the flag for us Aussies I'd nominate Jamieson Hickingbotham. It has that old-world British Imperial charm - just like the man himself. Whenever I hear it I picture him hitting rad combos by the hearth, pip...

But there are clear examples that I provided above that show the effect of that style of judging on a sport - I don't see how you can simply ignore them and say footbag will be different becuase we'll be free to be innovative in circles. If you envision a future where competitors are training and wo...

Nor would/should it happen. Assuming it would be possible to reach a workable consensus (which it wouldn't be) you'd end up with gymnastics or diving - where innovation and style is stiffled and everyone just trains and competes to accepted parameters. I enjoy those sports but for different reasons ...

They're the sorts of measurments I expected you were referring to and I agree with your assessment of where controversy will arise - my feeling is that the controversy and disagreement would be insurmountable, leave alone the question of how these measurments are then applied to judging. Different s...

Ok - now I've got a bit more of an idea of what you're intending. Obviously I disagree with scrapping routines but as you note that's a seperate argument (at least for the most part). I would love to see a better formula than the current shred 30 formula - it would have to capture difficulty, variet...

Of course it is true that there are and always will be differences between individuals' subjective evaluation of difficulty - but that's beside the point -you are proposing to come up with an objective method, and I have raised specific reasons I believe that such a thing is impractical and impossib...

Judges need to share a conception of difficulty and artistry and cleanliness and all the things they are evaluating. If you were to go ahead with trying to come up with some systematic exploration of difficulty it could assis this - but not as a scoring system and only in so far as it would help ind...

A bit of a long post, but you seem to be really interested in this and I think if you're going to put effort into it you should think more carefully about precisely what you hope to achieve and whether its possible before you get started. Firstly, I should have been clearer - I am aware that the ADD...

I noticed some references to a "difficulty system" - we don't have a difficulty system?! We only have the descriptive add system - which describes components but does not rank them in difficulty. The only other system for measuring difficulty in an objective way that I'm aware of is the shred 30 sco...

I've never been convinced a deduction style system is the answer for footbag - I think it works well enough in gymnastics because the routines are not as dense component-wise (ie. in gymnastics there are less judgable components presented to the judge per second than in footbag) and the variety is n...

I can relate to the feeling of control - although I get it more when I'm on the field than before a game (less so as I get a bit weaker but it's still there). This is why I'd answer yes to the "would you keep playing if you completely stopped improving and had no chance of improving" and the would y...
