Pinkus Weblog

This is my first "blog" entry. I used to hate the word blog, but now I don't mind it. I'll try to keep this thread grammatically correct, with a somewhat formal approach.

(This first post will be edited a lot as I feel the need to add new things)

I got a call from Emily Coolchick about two weeks ago, and it got me thinking more about footbag. I ended up buying a new pair of Lavers to practice with as 'punishment' for not playing footbag for almost two years.

So far things are going well. The first practice I had was terrible. My legs felt extremely weak, slow, and unskilled. I could barely do inside stalls and legovers. That session only lasted about 10 mins because of how poorly I did; but the very next day I played more, and my legs felt good. I was doing some pixie sets, stepping, and some single-dex symposium moves.

I've had about four practice sessions since I started playing again, and I try to play at least 15 minutes a day. I can already feel some of my harder moves coming back, but I'm in no hurry to do them yet. As of now, I just practice inside stalls, clippers, mirages, and legovers to get in shape more than for progressing my footbag skill.

I'm hoping I can gain all my skills back by the SoCal event in February, but getting in shape is still more of a priority for me. I'd rather kick longer with easier tricks, than playing for only an hour with hard tricks.

Sweet. I'm excited that you started a footblog, and I really like your first post as it is. :-) See you soon!

Chris, you're a lot of the reason my trick repertoire is what it is.

We need to play eventually.

Seconded.

But you guys should have two sessions, one with shoes, one without.

Good to see you back in the game.
You were one of the first shredders I ever saw on video.

Keep taking things slow. no sense in getting an injury.

Thank you everyone who posted in here :)

Today I went jogging, and before I got out of breath, my calves started to get really tense. So I thought maybe I was jogging too slow for my lungs to really be tested, so I started almost sprinting on the last stretch of my jog, and that seemed to do the trick. I was out of breath after 25-30 seconds of sprinting. Next time I jog (maybe tomorrow) I'll be sure to go a little faster so my lungs are getting as much exercise as my legs.

I practiced footbag about 3 days this week. Not as much as I'd hoped, but since my school is time-demanding, that's all I could get. I started up membership at a local YMCA to have access to a sauna, pool, and a place to play raquetball with my girlfriend. I'll post again next weekend.

Hey Chris,

Great playing with you. Looking so much forward to shredding with you and all the other good LA guys in the coming months. Think it's probably gonna be my footbag prime time ever!

See you soon!

Really bored at work. 50 hour work weeks make it hard to stay motivated with footbag :(

So in these next couple weeks or so I will try and find out about footbagging in Missouri. I can't recall if there are any shredders from here.

I miss kicking in LA, Santa Cruz, San Diego, Santa Barbara, etc.

PS: Chad if you read this, Iron Maiden + Dream Theater is playing together in LA, but you probably already knew that ;)
