J.Spano's Footblog
Haven't shredded in like a year or two and currently have no equipment to play with, but that will all change very soon...
I'm ordering a pair of size 11 lavers from Age 123/Adrian and my Mr.Sandbag is on the way.
THE PLAN:
- Shred as much as I can this month before I ship out for Navy bootcamp on the 26th.
- Hit some tasty moves
- Try to attend a session with the guys from NYFA
That is all. I'll update as much as I can before I ship out!

Re: J.Spano's Footblog
Dude, I hear you'll be in PA soon. Let's meet up if you're not far.. I'm around Phoenixville. 30 mins from Philly. Where will you be staying?
Re: J.Spano's Footblog
My "new" used Lavers came in!
Big thanks to Adrian, they got here earlier than expected.
Sadly my Hania bag and Mr. Sandman haven't come in just yet so actually getting to play will have to wait just a little bit longer.
Game Plan for my first day of playing:
Drill all basics...toe stalls, pickup, switch, mirage, clipper, etc.
If anyone has any beginner drills they recommend feel free to drop em by!

Re: J.Spano's Footblog
As a warm up, I do basic kicks, toes, inside, and outsides [sometimes], and I will also hit inside stalls to help with clippers. Also, orbits in and outside on both feet.
Re: J.Spano's Footblog
Sweet, thanks for the tip man.
Two Mr. Sandman's came in the mail yesterday. Sunny was so rad that she gave me an extra bag because of some mishap with my order. So kudos to FF!
Still awaiting my Hania bag, the anticipation kills me.
Pretty soon I'm gonna meet up with Marc (from PSU) so he can school me on footbag with his tiltless/guiltless trickery.
That's all for now, I'll update after the session.

Re: J.Spano's Footblog
Daryl and Sunny are always awesome when it comes to orders off of FF. They're both very kind and generous. Such great people in person, too.
Glad you and Marc got a session planned. Let us know how it goes.

Re: J.Spano's Footblog
UPDATE:
My legs are shredded.
Marc and I found this perfect spot to kick at the local park. Several people, young n' old came up to us, tried playing, made positive comments, etc.
Marc is a ridiculous tiltless/guiltless player, he worked on some pretty sick stepping + ducking tricks, drifters + grifters and many other tricks out of my skillet haha. He really helped me out with tricks and understanding the mechanics + theory behind footbag better.
I hit some new tricks:
Mirage + SS Mirage strong side + flip
Illusion strong side + flip
legover
I "footed" one Down towards the end of our sesh. Strong side only
Also did a couple jank-ass clippers strong side and flip side. I feel a lot more comfortable with my toe game, but I need to work on my consistency.
Overall, today was pretty sick.
Some take always:
My clipper game is virtually non-existent because I don't cushion enough with my support leg. I have a tendency to do the upper back hunch. I also tend to create way too wide of a window when I dex.
All things considered, I'm really happy with myself about today. After I was exposed to 2012 Funtastiks I played for a couple months barefoot (pre-lavers), now here I am two years later starting from scratch.
Shout out to Nick for setting this thing up!

Re: J.Spano's Footblog
For clippers, I recommend just dropping the bag at your side and catching it. Do not rush your game/clippers. I had this issue for a while and corrected it on my flipside. Then I had to build up muscles to toss it back to my ss toe. After that, cushioning the bag felt natural and smooth on my flipside. Hitting clippers to ss clippers and clippers to op clippers is way easier now because of that practice. But now, my strong side is now my weak side, because I have put all that work into my flipside clipper. haha! Props on the illusions. I need to start hitting those. :/

Re: J.Spano's Footblog
Thanks breh!
I will definitely work on those clipper drills today.
For some reason I prefer illusions over mirage, they feel more natural to me.
You'll get em down solid in no time man, no worries.

Re: J.Spano's Footblog
I'll be shredding today as well. I'll give illusions a try today. My legs/feet are not use to the motion yet though.
