Here's what I was told for mirage, when I was first learning them.

When you set it, wait till it peak then start doing your dex. I don't know how high your setting it, but you don't need to set it much higher than your knee. So knee level or a bit higher should work.

I hope this helps.

It's not that it's bad form, it's that it's not the same trick

?

If you catch it on a toe stall and drag it forward a little bit, then push it up, that's still not a toe stall?

He's saying that if you rake a mirage it's not a mirage. It's rake.

a rake requires a Dex. If u simply scoop it in a raking motion. its not a rake its still a toe set.

Listen to Jeremy he has that best advice so far. Don't wait for the bag, attack instead.

example (mirage):
Set the bag and immediately begin your motion upward towards the bag with your dexing leg, clear the dex at its peak or slightly on the downward fall of the bag, plant your dexing leg quickly as you shift your body weight to your dexing leg.

The trick to landing and and then transitioning out of a mirage is in shifting your weight in the air. Dex the bag and shift your weight to this leg at the same time. When you land your weight will land with you and you will be in full control of your body.

I watch many newbies struggle with mirage simply because the weight shifting isn't taking place. This throws you off balance and makes it seem like you are just too slow.

Timing is key.
