Ok... So... DOUBLE SPINS????

Post by F[uns]tylin' Eclectic » 21 Jun 2010 06:07

Hey there, my name's Nick, and I've been playing footbag for a 4-5 years now, playing seriously for 2 years, and I've come to know my strong points:

SPINNING (which is my strongest aspect in footbag)
whirls
swirls
ducking
diving
flyers
osis

Along with these tricks, I've been hooking up some more complex combos with them, and I was thinking... what combo would look more pleasing to the eye than a spin????

...DOUBLE SPIN :O

So I goofed around with them for a while, and I've only ever hit two, partially by luck of where I stopped spinning. Just wondering if anyone can help me out on the footwork/bodywork for double spins? Since I've hit 2, I know I can do more, I just need some advice. Thanks in advance!

for me, it helped to hit osis > inspinning clipper a bunch of times.

Then, i thought of doublespinning as "gyro inspinning".

Oh ok that makes sense, kinda like slowly tricking yourself into double spins. I like it. Thanks Matt!

Awesome, thanks a lot Erik! I searched for "double spin" before I posted, but I guess I missed that one.

if anyone is having trouble with this trick here is my advice:
set quick and high, do the first spin muted and spot the bag on its way up (should be about chest level and rising as you complete the first spin.)
then plant into the second spin like you would on a normal spin.
not positive doing the first spin muted is best, but it helps me a lot!

I've now hit a handful of double spinning clippers and I agree with Brian's advice. First spin being muted really helps me. I treat it as 2 tricks quickly b2b. So it's more like a Clipper Muted Spinning >Spinning Clipper. Without the mute, there's so many steps involved; hard to keep track of. Though I've hit it unmuted before once.

Brian, I actually first hit this right after NYJ because I studied the video of your double spinning clipper with that heavy bag of footbags :P

I know, I really miss it. But yeah, as soon as I get some time to put the footage up and edit it, I'll let you know.
