Any advice for [alternating ripwalks] ?
I am able to do 10 out of 10 ripwalks each side but I cannot link them.

heyyy I just started hitting ripwalk b2b on a fairly consistent basis.
DRILL INFINITIES! I find that helped so much, it may be coincidence but when i stepped up my infinity drilling I started hitting clean ripwalks almost simultaneously.
Just really focus on your stepping set, make sure its a nice set, not too far out, just a slight arch to your butterfly. Dont rush the clipper set before the stepping, foot placement is so key!

Back when I learned ripwalk I learned it from a butterfly, so ripwalk>ripwalk came very soon after. The key is really catching your butterflies. If the bag barely hangs on to your foot after a ripwalk, then you will never be able to get another ripwalk out of that. Practice your ripwalks with a nice long catch followed up with a couple infinities and then another ripwalk. Repeat for a while, and then ripwalk>ripwalk will come naturally.

I've been trying to do a ripwalk for a couple of days, and I've only been able to hit it once. (Very sketchy) I can step fine, but when I go for the opposite butterfly, I don't seem to ever make it in time. Anyone have any advice?

School your infinities
If you are always too late to go for the butterfly, then maybe school your stepping more so you can get a high enough set. BUt as you say your stepping set is fine, then its all about the butterfly then.
If you can do about 5-10 infinities, im sure ripwalk will come easier for you. Also remember to have good landing (not so much loud sounds).
Dont set the bag sideways, the bag should be set straight up, then YOU should move towards the bag. Ales's tips are: "Dance Around the Bag"
Make sure when you step to really jump off hard from your support leg, and when you go for a buttefly it will be easier.
The main tip is,
1)School stepping, there are some tips on that in this forum.
2) A ripwalk should have about a waist high (maybe a bit lower) stepping set, and you should be able to have plenty of time to do the butterfly.
3) Get those infinities solid
4) Set straight, move around the bag
5) Practice makes perfect!
Another good thing is to look at video's of Vasek or anyone that can hit them consistantly.
Good luck!

Chad D. has one of the yummiest ripwalks. He does like five consecutive rips in Tricks of the Trade 2. If you can, try to check that out.
On the set, he throws his knee up and out to the side, which allows him to set high and straight and 'dance around the bag'.
That should give you ample time for the butterfly.
Try to catch high so the bag doesn't roll off your foot.

Props on your improvements !
If you need some additional tips or any sort of clarification,
go to page 3 of this section and check out the thread on
stepping, that kur7ler (sp?) started.
Krafty posted a very helpful link there, an excellent mail from
Yacine Merzouk, where he gives ot very helpful and comprehensive
pointers on stepping and atomic.
Even now, where i'm able to do both of these sets, i still check that
mail from time to time to freshen up theory !
Another thing, i dont wanna knock anybody here, but before everybody
starts new topics about the same stuff all the time, one would do good
to browse thru the topics which are already there.
I wont advertise the search engine, just for the simple fact that it
sucks ; i know finding stuff in other sections of this board can take
very long, but the tip section is very small - only 3 pages !
The reason for me saying this dont stem from my dislike of topics
repeating themselves, but i believe, it would be truly helpful for other
newbs(or any people who have questions or tips to share ), if all
valid info concerning a certain topic would stay in one place.
Nothing personal, just a thought
Btw, i race you on hitting ripwalk b2b, are you in ?
Peace,
d

I can never really land a ripwalk properly. Like, once out of every twenty times, I'll get a very lucky Ripwalk... Other than that... I just can't land it. I clipper set with my right foot, and I get my left leg over it, my right leg over, but I either always miss the catch, or it's too low, or it flies off in another direction, or when I'm wearing pants the pants hit it... Also, when I attempt the trick, I naturally pivit to my left, I try to stop myself from doing that, but I seem to do it anyway... Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Also, I don't know how high to set the bag.

It's important to think of ripwalk (and lots of other tricks) as being made of two parts - uptime and downtime.
The uptime of ripwalk is a stepping set, which is basically just a clipper set mirage done really quickly. So if you can't already, practice clipper set mirages until you can clear the mirage dex well before the bag peaks.
The downtime part of ripwalk is just a butterfly. When your stepping set is good enough (high enough), it will be almost the exact same difficulty to do a butterfly out of it as out of a regular toe or clipper delay.

Practice the shit out of infinities and your stepping set. Try this drill to improve your Ripwalk:
Stepping Op Clipper > Infinity > Infinity > Stepping Op Clipper > Infinity > Infinity > Repeat
It will allow your stepping to get to a high enough level to improve the set, while working both your op butterfly and basic guiltless.

i only see/notice the bag when it hits each foot on each side.
when it does, cradle and wink at it, make sure you get a solid, slow delay, and then start over again, the catch is always going to be delayed and precise, everything else does itself if you're comfortable, like everyone said above, stepping out of butterfly, then it will be much easier. dont practice ripwalk from regular clipper, it'll only develop a dependence on the inertia of the bag to get it to the other side, from butterfly the bag must be stopped and redirected the opposite direction, which is the key to linking them
/just hit 4 back to back yesterday for the first time!

When you are doing the ripwalk, try to set straight and shift your body over and around the bag, rather than setting at an angle. That way the bag is only travelling up and down on a roughly vertical axis, so isnt as likely to skip off your catching foot at an angle or land too close to your toe etc.
You will need to work out the timing though for shifting your body left and right, because as soon as you have completed one ripwalk, you need to be shifting for the next one, so you may need to get your body ready to shift before youve actually completed the first move....
