Bump! Challenge Chrissy

Post by pips » 22 Oct 2007 15:14

Okay. I've waited enough. I kept saying I'd wait until I was playing regularly, but that hasn't been happening. Every time I have played lately, I have been feeling like I was losing my game, because I have nothing to shoot for and have no routine in my sessions. So maybe you guys can help me out. I can hit pretty much any foundation tricks. Out of harder tricks, I can hit datw, whirl, swirl, torque, ps mirage...I have been trying to hit dlo, smear, paradox whirl...Watch my videos? I can duck and just started diving. I can almost spin. Knock me out. :)

I haven't really been watching your game, but here's some challenges based on how well I think you can play:

 Infinity>rpt x 10
 Ducking Clipper both sides
 Ducking Clipper back to back
 Spinning Clipper both sides
 Butterfly>Osis>Pdx Mirage>RPT 9 contacts starting on each side
 Osis>Infinity>Rpt 6-10 contacts starting on each side
 Drifter both sides
 15-20 contacts tiltless
 Edit: 5+ contacts guiltless

Give those a shot, and I'll give you more when you reach them

I dont agree with those challenges quite yet.

The infinities yes.

Infinity>rpt x 10
30 clipppers bs
30 back to back clippers
20 legovers
20 mirages bs
20 atws bs

set a goal for 5 osis. when you beat that do 10. :D

good luck. If you attemt all that every time you start a session I KNOW you'll get better, faster.

Yeah, I think the whirl>infin>rpt and the 15 guiltless is probably a little too much right now, but I think the rest are fair. I'll edit those 2 out.

You were a little rough, but I actually footed the whirl>infinity rpt. the other day. I just figured it would take me a little longer to finish all the challenges.

Yeah, I found while I was in San Diego, that if you attempt tough challenges, they're not like totally out of your reach. Basically during a session Richie would give me a challenge that I thought was too hard, and I'd come really close to hitting it, and then I'd hit it maybe the next session or so. The 15 guiltless was definitely too tough though, sorry for that.

Here's another good one that really helped me increase my string length. It's more of a drill really.:

 clipper>ss pickup>rpt, then after that's mastered,
 butterfly>ss pickup>rpt

toe set same side clipper>same side mirage>rpt as many times as you can
legover>mirage>repeat as many times as you can
illusion>pickup> repeat as many times as you can
mirage>same mirege> repeat as many times as you can
5 and then 10 and then 20 and up and up same side mirages, try to break your record each time you play
clipper>whirl>clipper>far clipper>repeat (i did reverse whirl before but i didnt do whirls when i was at this level)

these are my absolute favorites and i almost always start my sessions with these, even now that im shredding far beyond tiltless. these drills were absolutely essential

if your torques are bothsided try to hit osis>torque both sides
if that isnt too hard for you try osis>torque>repeat

clipper>whirl>far clipper>whirl>far clipper>torque>far clipper>torque

those are fun

I watched a video of you from a while ago to see your infinities. If you still do them the same way, you're planting your foot in between each infinity. I challenge you to do them the way that Anz and Erik are doing them in these videos.

Butterfly, by Anz. At the end of the video there is an infinity tip

Butterfly as done by Erik, infinities after butterfly. Just to show another example.

I do them both ways right now. I mean not to plant my foot, but it happens sometimes. I'll try to be more conscious about it. :)

Challenges completed as of today:

Infinity x 10 (Anz style :P)
30 clippers bs
30 clippers b2b...first try
20 legovers not b2b but I'm getting better
20 mirages bs...could have done better (dropped too much)
20 atw bs (10 out to in, 10 in to out)
osis x 13 that shocked me but cool!
ducking clipper bs
ducking clipper b2b
spinning clipper bs...I'll have to show this on video...dunno if it's right
drifter bs I actually hit drifter x 2 bs
clipper>ss pickup x 3
butterfly>ss pickup x 3
far legover>ss clipper x 3
near mirage>ss clipper x 4
atw out to in>legover x 2

I would have tried the rest, but Kayleigh was getting cold and being bad. Good session. I hope I can keep this up and get better fast. :)

that sounds like a quick bit of progress there

if you can hit this, work on it daily too, its the start of my next warm up string

same butterfly>osis>pdx mirage>rpt. feels sooooo good and smooth as it gets easier and is really the basics for the flow and "feel" of guiltless shred. im not suggesting you should go guiltless, but im sure guiltless links are becoming a part of your freestyle, and this drill along with infinities and osis>osis are the building blocks for everything that follows.

use this combo as a basis for other practice drills e.g.

far pickup>op butter>osis>rpt.

butter>osis>pdx illusion rpt.

and any and all permutations you can think of.

More challenges, please? I'm kind of feeling in a rut with strings lately. My foundation is really coming strong. I'd like to hit stepping, spinning, DLO, and smear kind of tricks soon. Is that the next level up? Currently working on drifter, because I've been hitting the wrong trick this whole time. Need to get my ducking and diving back into my game.

How about:
Spinning Clipper > Ducking Clipper > rpt.
Drifter > Drifter
Smear > Legover > rpt.

Okay, but are there any tricks or strings to help me hit smear and stuff before I start linking it?

Howdy folks!

Hmm, I didn't realize it's been 2008 since the last post here.

Anyways, anybody up to post more challenges for me? My basic foundation is pretty solid by now. Now that I have an MP3 player, I've been kicking to music and have been able to keep up with maybe 20 or 30 contact runs. I may be exaggerating, because I always lose count after like 5 tricks... :D .

Here's a list of tricks and concepts I'd like to perfect on or see myself doing very soon:

Perfect:
dlo
plo
drifter
torque
datw

Would like to Hit:
double switchover
datw (in to out)
flail
magellan
barfly
down double down (I just recently hit fairy ss muted butterfly???)

Concepts of Interest:
pixie
fairy
stepping
spinning
gyro
ducking and diving

Ultimate goal of the moment = SMEAR! So close.

Oh yeah, and I like whirls and swirls and runs that make me kind of dizzy (not necessarily spinning, because I suck at that for now)... :P
