Ugly moves

Post by crazylegs32 » 09 Sep 2009 22:47

Ill start this with a couple basics since Im no pro. Ive been around awhile and some moves are just done wrong IMO and come out ugly as hell.-
A basic legover done by hopping off the plant foot. -either atomic set it or do the legover properly.
Any move involving a legover done where you cross over the plant foot with the delay foot to do the delay=UGLY IMO.

"Freestyle", my friend.

The first thing you described is called a "Symple Legover", and is an integral building block to learn before moving on to many more difficult tricks (ie: dlo, eggbeater, flurry, twin-symple omelette, symple doubleswitch...) Have you watched the newly released footage of Peter Irish in 2004? He hits spinning symple legover a few times in there, and it looks *lovely*.

If you do it off the set instead of all downtime, that's your choice too. It's also a great way to learn Leggy Symposium Atomic.

I argue that "any trick you think is ugly" is ugly because of the player's posture and/or technique, and not because the trick is inherently bad to look at. I guarantee that Yves Kreil, Lon Smith, Phil Morrison, Juho Marjo, etc., could make it look good.

ie: I think blender is the worst trick ever.*

* when Kevin Regamey is hitting it.

two moves i hate

DLO- i see it so often it gets boring their needs to be more creativiry and less DLO's

Toe/Pdx Mirage- Mirage is only when set from since it has about 0% chance of failure moving 2 inches the other basic mirahes are so overused

I think Symp Baroque is the worst looking move from the excrutiating amount of waiting that is done before the osis.

Kevin's blenders do look a little funny.

I do symple legovers all the time, even toe ss symple legovers. They're probably the most fun easy trick out there because you can jump as high as you want and feel like a jackass. I also agree with Kevin. Hate the player, not the trick.

NAH. I disagree with most of these but frigid osis can definitely be cool looking.

Blurry Dada curve however, is an absolute abortion.

Felix's Whirrs are one of the hottest tricks out there.
I also find DLOs ugly.
