west of Philly - weekend spring/summer sessions 2011

Post by Rieferman » 29 Apr 2011 09:46

Attention PA (and nearby) freestylers. In an attempt to once again have some regularity to our shred schedule, there will be "Sunday Sessions" at Black Rock Park in Collegeville PA. The park features nice playing fields, a skate park, a pavilion, playgrounds, and bathrooms.

DIRECTIONS
Here's a link to the park (for directions etc.):
http://www.uprov-montco.org/blackrockpark.html

TIME and CANCELLATIONS
We will be playing at 2 pm each Sunday starting this coming Sunday (05/01/11). There is a pavilion on site, so we will endeavor to play rain or shine (there is a small chance that the pavilion could be rented by a party once in awhile, but we'll roll the dice).

EACH WEEK, IF THERE ARE NO REPLIES, THE SESSION WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY CANCELLED. IF, ONLY ONE REPLY, WE'LL JUST SHRED IN MY BARN.

WEEKLY UPDATES
Each week I will make an "official post" in this thread with any relevant comments (such as "special guests", time changes, anything else). On weekends when I cannot make it, there are others that can keep it going in my absence.

Remember, no replies means no one wants to play, and therefore session is cancelled that week.

TUNES / DRINKS / BATHROOMS etc.
I have a battery powered ipod dock that I will bring when I attend. If you have something similarly portable for music, bring it just in case. Bring your own water etc. There are public restrooms and plenty of free parking.

IF YOU'RE COMING
Each week when I update the weekend schedule, iplease post here if you will be attending. It helps keep people excited about the sessions and lets us all know if it's worth coming that week.

IF NO REPLIES, THAT WEEK'S SESSION IS CANCELLED. ONLY ONE REPLY, WE'LL JUST SHRED IN MY BARN.

If you know of local players that aren't on modified, or aren't regular posters here, tell them to get off their butts and post in here.

:D

Later

Bob R.

PS - if net players ever want to show up, there are nice fields that you can use. However, I will not be organizing net play.

Stefan and I might be down for it this Sunday! I'm sure Jackson would be hella up for it too. I'll contact Corey and Darren, as well. I can let you know by Saturday. It all depends on how our finals studying is going.

Just wanted to say great job with this. This is an excellent way to build/maintain a scene.

Son of a gun, Bob!

I work until 1:30 every other Sunday! I mean I could show up late, but is there any way we can move it to 2, like the last one was supposed to be?

I *might* be able to come to this sunday, have to speak with the mammy, maybe a ride, and time.

Yeah, noon is all well-and-good for somebody that lives very nearby to the location, but for somebody who rolls-in from 1.5 hours away, noon is pretty early.

I got you covered on the ride, Drew.

Jon, it'd be awesome to see you at some of these!

And I talked to that new kid, Rob Margus. He said he's very interested in coming down to learn more. Plus, I just so happen to have an extra pair of Lavers in his size for him to use until he gets his own. It sounds like this guy is going to get into it. He's already got his basics down, so it's not like teaching someone completely unexperienced.

Also, Stefan is trying to make it down this Sunday to kick. He's never had a full-on session with more than 2 other players, and he's already pretty obsessed with the sport, so I think this will push him even harder.

Corey said he's down for Sunday, as well. He doesn't think he has anything going on.

I'm sure Jackson will be there. He's a shred junkie nowadays.

Haven't talked to Buchan yet. Bob, maybe you'd like to do the honors :P

I can talk to some of the other guys sometime soon, especially some of the closer ones.

Sounds like this Sunday is gonna be pretty sweet!

I will definitely make every session I am back in PA for. The black rock (skate)park is literally 2 minutes from my parents' house.

Kinda wish I lived in PA primarily

Thanks for putting this together, Bob! It was a blast today, much better turn out than I expected! Beautiful weather, great spot to shred.

I should be able to confirm for next sunday, later in the week.

Yeah Bob, great job with this! I wish I could come to next Sunday Session, but I'll be in Ontario with some birds.

I took some video of this session. It was so much fun!

Will def be coming to these from now on. Plus it's 2 mins away from me.

It was a nice surprise to see Jon Schneider and Drew Martin there.

We got this one kid into footbag, and I gave him a pair of Lavers and a footbag. He said he'll stick with it. I have video of it, as well as some shred that went down. I don't think we got too much amazing footage, but I could be wrong, because Jackson was taping later in the day, so maybe we got some cool stuff.

We also saw some sticks on the ground, which was a plus.

SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY!

OFFICIAL UPDATE FOR SUNDAY 05/15/11
Confirmed, we will play at 2 p.m. this coming sunday. Nick's away this weekend, but I believe Jackson, Drew K., and I will hold down the fort. As always, post here if you are coming (if no responses, session will be cancelled).
