Post by sniper4life » 08 Mar 2006 19:41

I am doing track for the first time this year and I'm doing sprints. Every time we do sprints I come home an my lower back is killing me and its hurts to walk. I really wanna shred after practice but it's to painful. Can anyone tell me how I might be able to fix this problem?

Talk to a chiropractor. Seriously. None of us are doctors. An ex of mine did serious nerve damage to her back from a back injury incurred while running track in high school. When she finally went to a chiropractor years later the guy said that if she had come to him shortly after the injury he could have helped but it had been so long she had suffered serious irrepairable nerve damage. So she basically has chronic back and leg pain that she will have to deal with for the rest of her life.

Nip it in the bud. Go see a chiropractor ASAP.

I'm told that there are good chiropractors out there, but I've been to several who are just hacks. I've had damage done to me.

Anyway, as someone with serious lower back problems, I say regular doctors are the way to go. They can send you to the correct kind of specialist if you need it.

Clearly you need to see some sort of doctor.

But once you're back in the game (;)) make sure you're playing with the correct posture and not worsening your situation.

Try to build up your back-thigh muscles, and hip flexors. And stretch both, as well back-thigh as hip-flexors, regulary, and thoroughly... It should help if your problem isn't nothing seriously, but you should contact doctor anyways...

Well, your problem is way to vague. Back pain after sprints. That could be a number of different problems. The only way to really figure out what is going on is to see a doctor and then he may refer you to a specialist to do some physical testing. A physical therapist could do numerous tests to check where the problem originates. Sprints are so vigorous that small discrepancies or abnormalities in your body may cause back pain that you didn't really notice before. So there isn't any real safe answer to your problem, until you are completely diagnosed first.

Tell your parents that you won't do track just because they want you to and then stop.

Unless you are a godlike track star, track really won't matter once school is over. Do what you enjoy, and put your time toward that. If you like track more, you're going to have to figure out what is going on because it seems that track is the only thing that really flares up your back.

If footbag is your passion over track and it creates no pain, explain to your parents what you want to do. If they don't support you, explain yourself again with all the drama aside. Physical activities are to challenge your mind and body, do what you enjoy.

Hey, i have had the exact same problem. I run sprints, hurdles, and high jump and after practice my lower back was hurting a lot. I recomend icing your back that helped me a lot and its been a couple of weeks since mine's hurt.
