Super Street Fighter 4

Hi gang,
One of my other obsessions aside from footbag and chess is a little game called Street Fighter. SF is the gold standard of fighting games, and considered to be high speed chess using a complex rock-paper-scissors system. Before footbag for me, there was Street Fighter, and now many people in our Sole Purpose Group play the new version. In fact, the SF scene is much like the footbag culture; an interconnected group of people, lots of tech talk, tons of videos, grassroots tournies (and one massive event called Evo), and clubs all over the world. There is even an SF forum that is very similar to this one. Anyway, this thread is for any freestyle footbag players that play Street Fighter as well. Shoryuken!

Footbag players that play SF

(Initial list off the top of my head, chime in if you play). There were a bunch of freestylers that played decently at the US Open last year, but can't remember everyone who threw down.

Eric Chang
James Risden
Nick Landes
Sam Colchlough
Brian Cooper
Ben Schmaltz
Red Husted
James Chance
Ken Somolinos (MVC2 and some regular sf, if I remember correctly?)
Greg Solis
abstract (is this a person already on the list?)
John Mahood
Bob Glasser
Brad Nelson

I'm a straight up addict too. Except I play super turbo and HD Remix. I tried sf4 and was very dissapointed so I never tried to get good at it. I'll most likely pick up this game soon, just to have it. I've been using my playing time strictly on sf2 so I'm pretty good at that game.

I am looking forward to the nerfing of some characters and the addition of Deejay. I just wished they made the game less turtle friendly.

If anyone plays online on ps3 or xbox, add me

We play on 360. The new game (Super) brings in a little more 'rush down' to it, so a bit more in your face pressure and combos. That was a complaint of vanilla SF4, play was more defensive to win. They brought a few more elements in from SF3 to try to balance it out. Dudley is a great rush down character, very fast and pressuring. Anyway, I am going to start a list of people that play SF who also play footbag.

Brad Nelson made this post about the similarities between the Street Fighter and Footbag communities with a Street Fighter documentary: http://www.modified.in/footbag/viewtopi ... et+fighter

Nice Brad, we do xbl as well. The handle is pdx live. You never know which one of us you are going to play, but I would say I am on it the most. If you see Sagat, I doubt it's anyone else other than yours truly. Let's play some time for sure : )

So you are aware then MvC3 is on the way I assume. It's the latest hot topic in the sf community after ssf4 was released. Also talk of a Darkstalkers game too. Capcom fighters are back!

Yes, it's pretty cool. It was made partly because the general community has been massively disappointed with the film adaptations of Street Fighter. With the quality of the game and its reputable standing, people expect better than the crap that has been put to film thus far. Here's hoping one day they do it right, the story is great and has lots of potential.
