Oho, näin nopeesti, kiitos vaan, paino kuulostaa just optimaaliselta.
Vanha pallo ei kyllä oo enää hengissä valitettavasti, siitä muistaakseni hajos saumat kauan sitten.

Joo laita samaan kirjeeseen vaan.

En sano mitään tarkkaa grammamäärää, mutta yleisesti tykkään vähän painavammista bägeistä kontrollin takia (+ mulla ei oo mitään hauleja/painoja/akvaariokiviä kotona, niin mieluummin sit vähennän liian painavasta kuin alan haeskella lemmikkieläinkauppaa lisäfillerin toivossa :P). Sellanen että jaksaa vielä setata. ;)

kiitos

Alright, that was random. Please use PM's next time.

This week Turku had some visitor from Russia, St. Petersburg. Three net players who came to practice with the local crew. One of them is Oxana Prikhodko, who's also one of the worlds best female freestylers. I had four sessions with her this week.

At the moment I'm uploading a video on YouTube from our todays session. I've played footbag on Monday, Wednesday and Thurday and I've been jogging on Tuesday and I'm supposed to be jogging tomorrow. My legs are killing me. I had to call it a day after 40 minutes of circle today because my knees and thighs just could hold me standing still. Still we filmed today and some of the footage is worth going through and uploading on YouTube... I should have brought the camera on Monday, when we both played well. Today we both played shit. Short runs and lazy attempts. Anyway I'm going to post the link on video section.

Generally I've been playing pretty well this week, looks like the bad season is behind. Or maybe I just needed someone to play circle with, 'cause with Antti we usually play seperately and just chit-chat.
Some stuff I've hit this week: Frontside Fury bs, Barfly > Barrage > Paradon > Flurry > Paradon > rpt, two Whirlwinds from both sides in the same run, Scorp x6 bs.

Oxana has great shuffle, her average Genuine shuffle run is oven ten contacts! She was very close to hitting a 5-5 link (Phoenix > Blurry Whirl) and Janiwalker while being here. Se told me she has been playing footbag every day for three months now. Either net, freestyle or both every single day! That's huge. I would die from exhausting trying to do the same. Actually my row would propably end on some bad hungover day before that...

So yeah. See the video thread here:

Haha, about the long socks or what?

No wonder you're legs hurt if you're both shredding and jogging that much. I'd recommend you to take it really easy with the jogging part, like running slowly enough that it removes lactic acid (= maitohappo) from your muscles rather than builds more of it.

Props for the good combos. I'll be watching that video later.

Much footbag lately. As well as other aerobic exercise, mostly jogging. I have shin splits for the first time in like two years. I don't know if it was Oxana visiting or what, but my bad season is gone, and I feel that footbag is great again.

I've filmed on my last two sessions and here's what went down:

Grifter > Vortex > rpt
http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/13715

Ripped Warriors, Venom cheaply bsos, Blurry Whirl > Matador > rpt
http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/13720

I was so close on Flurry > Quantum Whirl > rpt today. Dropped the last Whirl several time, but then suddenly I hurt my back landing a failed Quantum set weirdly :? Not really sure how that happened, but my lower back is still in pain, I hope it goes away by tomorrow.

I'm going to Helsinki next weekend. To SHRED. Can't wait. I'm not sure if I'll bring my camera, but the locals have them as well, so maybe some footage might pop out on Modified as well. We'll see.

I'm trying to live the whole February without alcohol and junk food. For no other reason than I want to test myself and save money - easy. That should mean a bit more footbag, because I can play on days I would be hungover  It's been two days now and I already feel like I can't survive 27 more days without kebab!

Those live broadcast sessions seem like a great idea. I tested if my video camera works as a webcam and it does! I just don't know how would I broadcast from the shed...

Statement of the day: Film your solo sessions to find flaws in your game.

Why don't people generally like Dada Curves? I'm sure people haven't forgot about them, players just don't use them. I've been thinking what makes a good Dada Curve. Mostly players slur the Butterfly, which has given Dada Curve the bad reputation. Yesterday I was doing some Dada Curves for the camera.
Dada Curves: http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/-13725
I think the symple Butterfly just needs some air. It looks good when both knees rise to the same height. But that's just my opinion. I'd like to have some comments on this. What do you think about the Dada Cuves on the video and what in general makes a good Dada?

Yesterday I was only supposed to film the Dada Curves, then have a short session, stertch and call it a day. But since I had the camera with me, I got a little carried away and ended up filming some great stuff.

I want to treat our few (and mainly very silent) blog readers well, so here's something for you: http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/-13726
There's at least two drills that I haven't seen filmed before, and the other one is most propably an "invention". Enjoy!

Thanks guys. Only one comment on the Dadas... I'll just shut up and forget about the Dada Curves from now on.

So I was in Helsinki on the weekend. We played quite a lot, two sessions on Saturday and one on Sunday. I had my video camera with me and I got home with about two hours of footage. I already went through it, and here are videos:

Barflies:
http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/-13746
-My Barflies from Sunday.

Late Night Garage Session:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQQOTwY9UyA
-Midnight session on Saturday. Featuring Aleksi, me and Kim.

Aleksi 10th Feb:
http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/-13747
-Aleksi's circle game from Sunday.

I also have a video of Aleksi hitting 4dex > 3dex > 4dex, which is pretty rad. But I did not upload that online. He can post it, if he wants to. And it's a shame that the camera wasn't on when he hit that 4dex > 4dex.

My legs hurt quite a lot from all this playing, so I think I'll be having a break from footbag for a couple days or so. I'll try if jogging does any good.

Statement of the day: Fish eye lens is a must for filming footbag.

Wow, cool videos, thanks! Good to see Air in action.

Anz, I really like your Grifters. And don't forget about Dadas, because they're ok (besides, do what you like, not what ppl say). It might look better when you raise your Symp Butterfly knee even higher (for Pdx/Gyro ones especially, then it's not necessary to jump high).

Thanks Olaf. Although I don't agree with you about what you said about doing what you like, and not do what people say. That's a very interesting topic on a couple of matters.
First - I don't know anybody who would do just what they like. I don't know anybody who would play footbag just for themselves. If they would, they certainly wouldn't have a footblog, nor would they write much on Modified. Their game would be sooo much different that the normal game you see in circles. And they wouldn't play guiltless for sure. So every player you see on Modified are playing with certain bounds in their game. John Schneider is a good example from an independent player though, with all those rolls and stuff.
Secondly - I can't believe there still aren't any full time Genuine players in this scene. Guiltless just seems to be safe and acceptable. The best of the best just do what they like and stick to Guiltless, because no-one dares to demand better performance. It's really not that hard to get rid of bailing habits, like toe set Butterfly and Osis-move>Infinity. What would push the pros to the next level? I've been suggesting some players to do at least some Genuine runs in their videos, but still I haven't really seen them.

I think Genuine is a great "guarantee" for your runs to be at least mediorce all the time, since there's no fooling around with BOPS. The viewer can sustain interest in Genuine runs longer. I understand playing Genuine feels "dangerous" for those players who like their run to have these "flashes" like hard link-bops-hard link-bops, since the possibility of dropping with BOPs replaced with Genuine tricks is much greater. But how cool is that when you do those hard links in Genuine run? I never like long stuffed runs anyway. "Flashy" as Clavens calls it, is my thing :)

Moving on to Genuine takes some practice for sure. You need to relearn bail moves. Like replacing Infinity with Pdx Whirl and Barfly, so that it's a reflex.

Actually I've been working on some Genuine bails lately. Lots Blenders for example (You can see me dropping lots of Blenders in my latest few videos, so I guess I need some more practice...). I want to be able to play Genuine with ease in circles some day.

[EDIT: Should I start a thread in general footbag about this?]

I've had flu since Tuesday, so no footbag... bah! But I'd say I've earned this break.

Statement of the day: Give people what they like, not what they expect.

Hey Anssi,

I just saw the vid you made on Feb 4th. I really liked your drills, especially the fury rubberman. I thought some of your down doubles with the left leg looked thin/"the", but on the whole I was blown away. I mostly wanted to give you props on being so both sided, and for hitting ripsteins and symp flurries so cleanly. Those are cool tricks even when they're a little thin (like most people's), but yours are really beautiful. Do you have any advice for ripstein? I think you have my fav ripsteins in the world.

My next solo session I film, I will make a point to play without BOP, in honor of you. Expect some very short runs.
