modified.in BagSwap - List Drawn! See First Post

Post by WyrmFyre » 09 Jul 2010 09:04

The names have been drawn!!! My 7 year old independant adjudicator pulled the names out of a cup. Remember to contact the person above you in the list with your address details. Remember, theres no competition in this, no rush to get your bag out as quickly as possible, its all just for the sheer fun of it!

THE DRAW

Bottom of the list sends a bag to the top of the list.

Sounds fun!

However, I'm not saying "aye" until we have a better idea of what we are going to do.

I would be down as well! Maybe we could just get 10 or so of us and then scramble all the names? Or would this be an ongoing thing?

Cool to see some interest in this :D

What would (or rather what did) happen was that on a set deadline, someone would assemble all the names and then literally pick them out of a hat, and post the list online.

You would then stitch a bag for the person below you in the list. If your at the bottom of the list, you send to the person at the top. Once the list is posted, you would send (PM, email, whatever) your mailing address to the person who is sending you a bag.

We also had an agreement that no one could post a picture of what they were sending, the person who recieved it would do that, but thats just to heighten the suspense :D

We did have the odd dropout, unfortunately, people saying they would participate and then not. If that happened then they would not be allowed to take part in it again.

I think thats roughly it. Lets say if we get to ten "Aye"s then ill set a date :D

i wouldnt like to a bag that isnt any good. (if there are some new born stitchers ... )

Ive got no problem with the two lists idea, assuming we can get enough names.

Have started collecting names in the OP, come on people, who else is in??!! Lets get some bags travelling the globe!

aye

eventho i wouldnt mind one big ass mega trade, the idea of 2 minimega trades devided into "veterans" (i dont like the term pro since most of us veterans isnt exactly pro) and "newbies" sounds good, but is not mandatory to me!

I like the idea but what exactly would define "veteran" and "newbie"? would it be the amount of bags a person has stitched prior to this? I would be in if i knew what defines the categories (if there are any)!

Yeah, personally I feel like it would be kind of ridiculous to divide into two groups unless a lot more people join in. Even if we did a small one now, there's no reason we couldn't do another one right afterwards (and if the first was a success, more people would almost certainly join in the next time). But I'll be in either way.

a panel swap would be cool too cause this you'd have a bag made up of different colors you may not have from different peeps.

as i said before, i dont think that 2 groups is such a super good idea. but "veterans" would most likely be people who stitched 100 and more bags. i think it was like that the last time we did this.
but i totally agree that 2 groups would only make sense if we had like.... 30 people. also, right now the fresh generation of stitchers might have the chance to get theyre hands on a superb footbag they wouldnt have gotten anyother way. on the other hand, some of the veterans may be suprised about the quality of the bags they might get from a newbie. i say no groups!

I tik for simplicity sake, lets stick with one list this time around. If theres more interest next time and we can get two on the go, even better! I hope everyone can agree with that.

Ive set a date! I will get my kids to randomly pull all the names collected out of a hat next Wednesday, 21st, and Ill post the list. To get your name in the list, please respond here with the obligatory "Aye!"

it'd be cool if the bag swap was blind

the scrambled list is kept private, each participant only knows who they are sending to, not who is sending them a bag - the person sending it either goes commando and omits a return address or uses the name and address of a friend or relative

fun is had by all as the forum tries to guess who stitched which bag, perhaps some stitchers even purposefully omit tell-tale stylistic characteristics

Thats an interesting idea. I like the panel swap one as well, though id go further to say that maybe one person could stitch a pent, then mail it to the next in the queue to stitch another pent...

Yes, we may end up with a bit of a mishapen bag or two but imagine shredding with a bear/macro/hania/mc etc etc hybrid!

defenestration, are you taking part? :D
