If you had one footbag wish...

Post by C-Fan » 17 Jun 2011 13:42

...what would it be? No fair wishing for more footbag wishes. I'm also not interested in seeing a long list of footbag wishes, since part of this exercise is to see what people's #1 top wish would be. Can be individual, or for the sport.

Well?

I wish I had had the good foresight to start working on long, varied, smooth tiltless strings, and bothsided drills 10 years ago, instead of going for new tricks that I couldn't hit in strings, or just to a bail.

I wish all footbaggers could be accurately and fairly compensated relative to their time/effort/experience/skill level,
whether it be monetary or through public recognition (whatever the player values the most).

pretty much completely "off-the-cuff"...

Perfect Pendulums, both sides, of course.

I think I would have to choose Global Recognition. Top players should be able to make a living for all the hard work put in.

I would wish that even the slightly uninterested viewer could tell exactly what something like a twirl, or quantum whirl was, just because it looked obvious that their body moved around like that.

Something like a grind in skateboarding looks cool, and is really obvious, for example. Not that I expect the viewer to understand gyro barroque screw, but I don't expect myself to understand ridiculous skateboarding footage upon first view either.

I feel like magically more sincere understanding from the public would make showing footbag to the public more successful, trying to recruit/promote or something. I figure that the other annoying problems in the sport I could fix, might end up being fixed from this wish.

I would travel back in time, with all the footbag knowledge and skills that I possess today, to when atw was mind blowing.

On top of dominating circles for a while until genuinely talented people catch up, I would have the unique opportunity to gradually "discover" tricks and give them names.

You'd all be hitting "Roywalk" and "roystein". I'd get rid of butterfly, pixie and fairy (storm, thunder and lightning respectively). Also, I would come up with some trick names in Yiddish, because I find that language hilarious for some reason. Schlep instead of Osis would infinitely please me.

My wish would be for footbag training schools/facilities to open up across the world where top players would be paid to instruct younger players and put together teams representing cities and countries at tournaments.

This is the wish that would make footbag popular. Very un-selfish; kudos!! :D

my 1 footbag wish would be: For every person, big or small, fat or hungry, to have a footbag.. Especially in places like Africa to take their minds off the fact they have aids and no food.

I deleted my jokey one above and would really wish for footbag to have always been called "footbag", rather than "Hacky Sack". More people would know what footbag was then and they might have a higher tendency to start playing.
